Sold Winchester Mystery House from Barrels of Fun

Don’t get too excited it definitely isn’t the 2nd coming ! Dune is a better game

@ballsports don’t listen to this fool I’ve had farts linger longer then he’s been in this hobby

It’s a great first game to buy! You’ll love it!

Don’t listen to haters, they just are entitled and think they know best when they don’t

Right straight back to hype.

In all fairness though we all like different things. I know I'm supposed to like Godzilla, and I do, but I never felt wowed by it or like I needed another game. JP2 on the other hand keeps me up at night thinking about it.

Definitely with you on the Godzilla thing. Didn't keep it that long. Much prefer JP2.

Just to be clear (because somehow it seems I need to be !) we all love pinball because as ballsports says it gives us the kid at Christmas feel, and what you’ve bought my friend is a good, very unique interesting game , in saying it wasn’t the 2nd coming I had zero intention in dampening your excitement, but as someone who actually played it a few times last week and jumped on dune as well, I was more excited with dune, that’s all. Ballsports enjoy your first nib and continued pinball journey.
On a personal note most people who have met/had contact with me would I hope say I’m very friendly and always treat people in a how I would want to be treated way . Have a good day one and all !

@Kelsbells I certainly didn't take it as a slight. Completely valid to like Dune more and even to not like WMH at all (I know thats not the case).

Wish I could get more time on both to work out which is truly king. I'll soon have plenty of time on WMH but don't think we have a Dune nearby and I didn't brave the queue at pinfest.

Rob (seikokid) is not far from you ballsports and has a dune among quite a few others , he’s a top man and always happy to have people over to try out games
Nice @SeikoKid I can't use my right arm currently (torn my pec major, seeing a surgeon tomorrow) but I'll trade you games on my Winchester (assuming you haven't ordered one anyway?) for a crack at yours.

THIS.... i've only been "in" the hobby for 2 and a bit years and I've managed to buy 2 NIB in that time (1st because i wanted the warrenty, 2nd because it was limited and the timeing was right).... but I have kids.... and, ok, i can justify spending a lot on a toy but there are limits for me at this stage in life. I CANNOT justify over 10k on a pin no matter how good it might be as (looking at market) i'm gonna lose a ton ont he asset more often than not. it's an expensive hobby and i can imagine having morecash to splurge once the kids are adults but to grow the hobby the entry level needs these "low" tier mahines to hook people in...

If i believed the internet I was "crazy" and "missing out" for starting / buying a Pro Foo fighters and honestly I simply wouldnt have taken the first step in if I hadnt bought the Pro.... and I'm glad I did the FUN i've had is great and I personally dont see the value for the Prem (not saying it's not there but starting out and with only one pin at the time.... meh)...

Point is... I love these low run pinballs, but it cant become the norm as it makes the hobby elitist and unattainable for the part of the market that is starting in the hobby. Dropping 7-8.5k on a Stern Pro or Turner NIB is VERY different to 11.5-14k for the other end... if everything feels unattainable, new blood wont enter...

Of course , now i'm hooked and desperatly working outhow to fit more tables... and I also have access to 2nd hand market as I have confidence in the inner workings of the machines and my ability to fix. But you gotta start in a safe space, and that space cant cost too much!
I've been in the hobby for 61 years and still not yet bought a NIB. In fact for most of that time it was pretty well unheard of for anyone to do so. I'm not saying you shouldn't, but you'll get plenty of enjoyment from a used machine at a much lower price (and you won't worry so much when you put a scratch on the cabinet!)

Most definitely.
Greatest enjoyment is having to save up and hunt for the title you want.
I have bought a couple NIB, but the excitement or anticipation isn't as great.
Maybe it's because being handed something isn't as rewarding as bartering. Maybe because you know you'll loose £xxxx as soon as you cut the strap. Maybe because a NIB will never play as smoothly as a used machine and there also the underdeveloped code as well and the extended delivery time - not even Martin takes that long 😁.
Dont get me wrong. I'm looking forwards to getting WMH - but it's a slow burn.
