All,

Sorry to have to post this, however enough is enough.

Over the last few weeks, there have been pictures on here that have been unacceptable, topped off tonight by some pics where a fellow Admin had to Moderate/Delete some pictures that would frankly have only been acceptable on a Hard core Fetish site.

Now to be honest we have been rather lenient here I believe until now, however please could we stop this practice immediately.

As has been mentioned before in other threads, and just to make clear, no Nakedness or Graphically Obscene images will be tolerated.

Those that choose to ignore this will be banned for a period of time, Without warning.

Sorry to have to play the high and mighty. I don't do it well, and I don't like it, however our Terms of Service that I sign up to with our ISP states no adult content, and I'm not risking having the site taken down for someone's stupidity.

Paul

Abaxas - Are you taking the p*ss on purpose? After the number of complaints we have had about some of your posts, you're lucky to still be here.... Please dont antagonise the Admins...

We should all chill out and stop being up are own ****s.

If there is a problem get everyone involved.chat about it and get it sorted. That way any bad is converted to good and everyone gets along better.

Abaxas, step back and read your post and consider the audience.
Can you see that this could be interpreted as saying Paul is up his own ****? Or are you saying that the ISP is?
This site is too big for all of us to be a committee and has worked with a few people with the clubs best interests serving to keep it running. We don't censor for fun or to promote only our message.
If you want smut you have other sources, if you want freedom of expression then join a civil rights group but don't expect it to be what you preach either.
If you want us all to get on, stop antagonising people by careless posts.
Pinball people, pinball.

The problem is that a forum is run for it's members. Any admins serve the members wishes only.

If there is a problem, let people decide what they want to do about it. Dictating terms is never the answer.

Ie if people want porn, let them have it.

My view is that if there is a problem, rules need to be defined. Those rules need to be written by the members.

I think a number of people have already said that if you want porn then there are plenty of other places other than this site where you can get it.

It's nice that I can usually browse this forum at work without having to worry about what I might stray across.

As for rules - I really don't think most people would consider it appropriate to post such extreme forums on a forum which has nothing to do with that specific subject matter. It just requires a little common sense.

Paul pays for and maintains the forum, it is not a democracy, he is not beholden to "our wishes" (although I'm sure he's more than happy to listen to fair requests). It's also not unreasonable to ask that content stays PG, both to ensure players of all ages can visit the forum (not to mention browsing safely in the office without getting sacked) and also to avoid getting booted by the ISP based on their stated acceptable content terms.

Your admins are not dictating nor making rules up to satisfy themselves. They are stating common sense to maintain the environment they serve. You are an adult and can find your needs from various sources, returning here when you want to join in the interests of this forum.
You are beginning to be the one dictating/pushing the terms of this site and at the same time not taking responsibility with how you express yourself. I highlight that again, not because I think people need protecting from your careless comments but because you will find it harder to get others to understand your point of view when you are antagonising them with insults. I hate publicly pointing such ideas out but either you don't know you are doing it or you do it because it amuses you.

If you are not happy with the environment, you are perfectly free to find one that matches your requirements or create your own. If you want to be a citizen of the pinballinfo republic then you need to follow the civic code.

Every forum out there has limitations. Be it placed upon it the laws of the land (i.e. where the server is located), the Terms placed upon it by their host etc.

This site is run for it's members, yes. However the T&C's that have been agreed to as part of the hosting package say no porn. Simple. Whether you like it or not, I'm NOT prepared to jeopardise the site for the sake of a few that don't tow the line. Simple.

As part of these T&C's, when you signed up and agreed to the following...

You agree to not use the Service to submit or link to any Content which is defamatory, abusive, hateful, threatening, spam or spam-like, likely to offend, contains adult or objectionable content, contains personal information of others, risks copyright infringement, encourages unlawful activity, or otherwise violates any laws.

And just to clarify, the site was initially (first 12 months approx) financed by myself, however is now paid for from donations to the site, and affiliate income.

I don't Own this place. I "support" it, and have to police alongside the diverse team of admins, who all use COMMON SENSE to administrate. Anything questionable is discussed by the Admins of the site - and to be fair 99% of the time we all tend to agree, since common sense prevails.

if you feel you cant or wont abide by the rules, please feel free to let me know and I'll help you in that decision...

I never get involved in these things but seeing as I spend a fair bit of time on here and know a few folk personally I'm gonna throw my ten pence in because you're starting to wind me up.

How about you just read the ****ing rules if you care that much
I've never read the sodding rules. Most "normal" people don't need to. Generally, posting pics of your pinball machine which you've refurbed, complimenting someone on their work or generally having a friendly chat with someone, is never going to contravene any rules. And let's be honest, what else ya gonna do on here.

It's starting to go back to pinball paradise days, where every thread was tainted by some arrogant sarcastic nob putting a twattish comment.

Anyway, I don't wanna fall out with anyone, just get along.

They are printed above by Paul and have been put in bold to help. Help us all by reading them again, applying some adult common sense and we can all move on.

Its for the best if there is no graphic content, as i tend to read at work..

Oooo this brings back memories of certain people on Yahoo Group....

Toast anyone...? ;) I'll have marmite on mine please!

Oh and as I posted that under Paul's post I should state that it is in relation to the posts by abaxas.

Erm, Carl, what the flip has marmite got to do with beef?

It's a spread made from yeast so is suitable for vegetarians - thus it has nowt to do with beef.

Are you thinking of Bovril?
