UKPinfest 2025 - August 22nd, 23rd & 24th

Big fan of maths, but enjoy my time .... hence don't compete as much in last few years
The joy of card formats is that you don’t have to play the whole time, you can even miss whole days. If you’re really good you can qualify in relatively few attempts, if you don’t care much about where you finish you can play your three or five cards or whatever your time or money limit is and then go and get on the beers. Long qualifying gives you that choice, as well as the fake internet points

Very few (if any) people will be sweating out the entire 20 hours of qualifying. It’s probably counterproductive, and definitely very expensive, to do that.

Can't understand why so much qualify time required .... unless it points driven.... or cash
Hi Ian,

Basically, the qualifying is the same format as the last 5 years. Card based with 5 games used on each card.

As others have said, you can dip in and out of qualifying any time you like, based around other activities you want to do. Whether that be entering the other comps, socialising, or playing the machines in the reception or main hall. This should ensure people get to pick and choose what they want with little chance of clashes.

The total length of time hasn't changed significantly from previous years, but having access to the hotel early and having the comp downstairs has meant that we can use Friday more, and stop qualifying earlier in the evenings so the scorers and TDs can actually experience some of Pinfest themselves.

You can delay qualifying until Sunday morning (assuming that you survive the Saturday night karaoke), qualify and then play the finals. All without the need for an overnight stay.

The length of qualifying is driven by WPPRs, rather than cash. All of the entry money will be distributed in prize money (after expenses are taken out). The more entries the bigger the prize pool, but it certainly isn't the driving factor, or we'd be charging significantly more for registration and further tickets, as some other competitions do. It is definitely noticeable that the foreign players who have competed in the past are amazed at just how cheap entries are compared to what they're used to.

Anyone know if you are allowed to park a motorhome up in the hotel car park - for a fee of course?

Stage 1….. break down in to easy bits
Stage 2 ….. is to get all said pieces up from cellar
Stage 3 … reassemble! Expect heads!
Stage 4 …. Accept rants of family because they have filled the kitchen.
More stages to follow….

What time does it open on Friday? Everything says 7pm but I'm sure last year was earlier???

Always has - agree, but for some reason I thought there was something in the daytime. Just me getting old! Cheers Phil. See you next week.

Booked for the whole weekend, finally gonna make it to a pinfest 👀

EDIT: I am mistaken, Friday and Saturday already sold out! Thought I'd gotten the reservation.
3rd on waiting list at least....
So I can't make pinfest again this year but I did get contacted today as I was third in the waitlist that a room was available.
So depending on where you might be in the waitlist and are still looking for a room you might get contacted soon.

I received a call yesterday, however because of the generosity of someone on here it was no longer needed (You know who you are) - so hopefully that should have been made available later yesterday for someone else in the queue.

Poor Jess at the Mecure was having a nightmare day - she was doing a great job trying to sort as many people out as she could, so Kudos to her!
