I am delighted to announce the first London Pinball Championships will be held on March the 23rd and 24th, at The Pipeline bar in central London.

The event will comprise of a Main and Classics competition, both earning WPPR points for all entrants. The Main competition will involve a qualifying session on the Saturday with the top 32 players progressing to a double elimination finals round on the Sunday. Don't fret however if you don't manage to qualify as the Classics competition will also be running throughout the day on Sunday as well!

Our intention is to attract players from as many countries as possible and create another prestigious event here in the UK. There will be trophies, certificates and prizes for the winners of the various competitions which will include awards for Juniors, Females and also a High score competition with a twist!

We shall also have some UK Competition firsts at the event including Jersey Jack's Wizard of Oz (Courtesy of Pinball Heaven) with more to follow..

Entry to the event is by pre-registration only via our website www.londonpinball.co.uk where you will also find further details. Entry is £30 for adults and £10 for Juniors. This covers entry to both competitions, commemorative shirt (make sure to select your size during registration) and welcome pack.

I shall be making more announcements and giving more details shortly,

We hope to see you there!

Incredible line up Matt, great work for setting all of this up, so who here is signed up and coming to the tournament, its certainly looking like its one not to miss,

Cheers, Craig

Thanks Craig! The line-up is thanks to the generousity of local enthusiasts, many of them on this forum. Without their help, it would just be all my games and not a 40 machine weekend of sin! Contributing a machine to a show is a great gesture, not everyone loves pinball enough to put their machines out for others to enjoy. Let me say publicly thanks to John Whitfield, Stan Simpson, Martin Ayub, Dan Bradford, Mike Kindler, Thomas Evrenos, Rob Campbell-White, Ben Pike, Neil Fellender and of course our two competition sponsers Phil Palmer (Pinball Heaven) and Andy Netherwood (Pinball Mania) whom are both donating machines too.

I'll be there  Signed up over the weekend and have got a room in the local Travel Lodge sorted along with my train tickets. Who else is in the Travel Lodge?

Still too bloody expensive tho :(

So - £79 for overnight
£30 Entry
£50 beer (London prices!)
£40 Fuel
£££ parking (or £££ Train - take your pic).

Was cheaper to go to the SCS!!! ...with some of the deals about at the moment it's cheaper for a week in spain!

You know - i think i'll give this one a miss and put the cash into some coils for TAF :)

My thoughts exactly

I do understand the comments about the cost, it is the downside of holding such a competition in the centre of the London. I did consider just hosting a smaller one-day, 6 machine affair, but i pretty much do that six times a year already with the league.

The main reason behind going this way are the experiences of competitions in other european countries. There are many large 2-day comps across europe that have players coming in from various countries, I have been to a fair few and they make up the majority of my best pinball memories! All day playing and socialising with some of the best players and friendliest people, followed by a late night of socialising and playing some more, much like the UK Pinball Party or The Slam. This is more what we wanted to aim for, but on a smaller scale.

I will say we are doing all we can to give value for money! All entrance fees are being put back into the comp, Thomas is working on specials from his suppliers and is confident of serving beers at £3 (or very close), and is working on food offers too, there will be prizes, giveaways, each player will get raffle tickets in their welcome pack so it won't be only the top players winning things! The bar will be open until midnight, we have newly released machines, Pinball Daze will have a stall (get in touch with any pre-orders and save delivery costs) and i hope to be revealing more soon.

I know competitive pinball is not everyones bag, but i will do all i can to make this a comp people want to come back to!

Just clicked on to the web site.... Looks awesome , you guys have done amazing ☮️

whats happening on the Sunday? Can't make the sat as going to see Noel Gallagher and Blur yes you did just read that correct :faint2:but will be staying over night in London Town , trying to convince the wife to leave me to play with you boys Sunday ... So what's the crack Sunday matty and crew ?

Cheers
will

I can confirm that Pinball Magic will now be at the show!! not sure what to lose from the list to make way??

nothing has to make way, we can squeeze them all up a bit, no?

I'm not too sure about that! but one of my machines can now become a stand by, If anything does break down then a working replacement would be great. Then repairs can be done off the floor area!

Really looking forward to this. booked early enough to get train for £25 return from Sheffield each and double room in travelodge for £56 including breakfast. That plus the entry means a pinballing weekend away excluding food & drink for me and the boyf is £83 each, can't argue with that.

Don't forget to pick up those v1.12 EPROMs for pinball magic for me,
I've dragged it out not much left to do at all :smokin:

I am pleased to announce that Budweiser have kindly agreed to support the competition, so there will be special offers on bottles and draught as well as plenty of Bud branded prizes to add to the free raffle!

Now that's what I call proper sponsorship! I remember the good old days when Monster energy drinks were sponsoring the Monster Meets at PA HQ, they were unknown in the UK and had tonnes of it available for free!

Matt, see if you can nail them down with a 5 year pinball sponsorship deal, play hard to get, tell'em you're also talking with Stellar Tortoise, Cash Converters and Pay-day Loans R Us.

Sad but probably true and worth thinking about: If they were to let you call the event the "Budweiser London Pinball Championships", you'd probably get more non-pinball people turn up to find out what it's all about.

Pay-day Loans.......

Has our addiction really got so bad that any of us would consider a 1500% APR loan to snap up that bargain machine?!?:wackoz:

Congratulation Matt on getting the sponsorship

I did offer them title sponsorship, but they are supporting us with cheap booze instead. Not that this is a bad thing!!
