Wow just WOW!
I have seen a few of my old pins I have sold in the past few years hit eBay for crazy amounts.
However they were really nice examples the stern IJ and TS I sold for 2250 ended up on there for 6k and 4.5k respectively and sold!

However this DM was in so bad condition I didn’t even have the heart to start it and sold it on for what I paid approx £1300.
I helped the buyer bring it back to life by supplying all the protectors to bling it up a little. However there was only so much you could do due to trashed ramps and condition of the PF and Cab.
It’s now on eBay and looks exactly how it was sold on sun 2k with no further work done yet it’s already over 3k so does that make a super nice one worth 5k now 😳
What is the world coming to.!

Karma worked its magic and the member I sold that stinker too in turn sold me a super nice one for less than this is currently upto.

A nice DM

After the widebody chat on another thread I played my DM last night and it really is an underrated classic imho. The profanity roms take it up a notch too, especially when you nudge it too hard! I can see why Scotty put so much love into his, glad to see it went to a good home!

Imagine the good parts are removed.

Should be paying you to dispose of them

When the new £ came in l often had lots of 10 or more fully working dumped on my driveway for free . About an hour to remove the wanted parts then some polish guys took away the remains to strip out the metal

At one point l had to state no bacrest mpu5 of 6 as parts had no value

Is TAF now worth £10,450?

I think this was the machine Williams Amusements had for sale two months back. Even has same photos and text as the original add. Surprised at it been back up for sale so quick I thought it was a keeper, but I have not played yet. Hoping to when I visit the office :)

Looks like the description is the same as the Williams Amusements website other than being very specific that the location is Pontefract... maybe Williams are selling directly on ebay now?

they've always sold on ebay under various seller ids.

Correct, which says everything.

Plus that's a standard edition (not an LE) due to the standard brushed steel trim, so the auction spiel is very misleading.

From memory i think JJP numbered a run of 1,000 standard games too. After a while i lost track of all the so called limited edition WOZs.

Agreed, I have one (Bally) from this era, and having it mostly working from the outset is awesome. Not very deep, but what they lack in rules they make up for in charm (and sometimes a musty smell ;))
Just to add, I bought mine for £240, and by the time I'm done, she will have cost more than this listing is asking ;)

Excellent. At some point I would like to own an older machine also. Not something I would rush into but if I had seen one pretty local I would go have a look. Actually my Son really enjoyed Nautilus (played it many times) at Pinfest and often mentions about having an old EM in his bedroom, that would be cool actually but no way would the wife allow it unfortunately the grumpy git 😂

So on this point I'd say beware, there are good EMs (Nautilus is definitely good) and bad EMs. If it's beautiful but not much fun to play, it can start to become a space thief. What else can go in it's place. Equally, from experience, a good game in poor cosmetic condition can leave the pinheads in the house isolated ;)

Can anyone recommend some good EMs? I fancy an EM, and have considered Blast Off, but don't know any other ones to look out for.

As with any type of pinball, it's a matter of personal preference. For many, the definitive e/m pinball is Bally Fireball; this stems as far as I can tell from it being named as such in a pl***oy article decades ago. Other mentions of it say it's attractive, but doesn't live up to its reputation. Pre 70's Bally games tend to be poorly thought of, in comparison with Gottlieb and Williams. Their 70's games seem to have more appeal. Other well regarded Bally games are Nip-It, or Wizard (the first pinball with the designer identified in the artwork), while Captain Fantastic has an early use of double flippers (puzzlingly described as 'scattered') but isn't particularly highly rated.

Is that Williams late 60's Blast Off?. The add-a-ball variant of Apollo; at the time games weren't switchable between conventional replay and add-a-ball. Similarly, the renowned Magic City had its add-a-ball Magic Town, though the spell-out feature on the playfield still said City. A name like Hot Line might suggest a Cold War theme (in the 60's anyway), but it's actually fishing; as with Fish Tales, don't be put off by that. Its AAb was Big Strike.

Another old favourite is Gottlieb Buckaroo, complete with 'kicking horse' backbox animation. It must've been popular, despite being a 1965 game there was still one in the line-up at an arcade used for a movie scene in 1972/3. Gottlieb returned to a simplified version for 1975's Spin Out, one of the first games I played/owned.

As I've mentioned before, Gottlieb thought enough of some 70's e/m's to update them to solid-state in that desperate early 80's period; Orbit, Jacks Open and El Dorado.

Gottlieb kept on producing e/m games longer than the other manufacturers, too. Not just making games as an e/m and a solid-state, but simply e/m games. A couple of late ones that I quite liked were Strange World and Golden Arrow.

AFAIK single player games are more sought after, they usually have deeper rules plus you only have 1 score reel to maintain.

Playfields with vari-targets and roto-targets and backbox animations add to playability.
