Oh wow, ace! Thanks Mooonraker, Luke, Ronsplooter and CoolDan - that's brilliant, thank you
I'll get ordering some lube today so I've got some, great stuff!
Quick Progress update:
I have previously stripped the playfield parts, indexing them carefully and have cleaned the playfield up with Novus 2 very very very carefully. It looks beautiful now. I will not attempt to repair the big worn areas. All the white tower plastics were filthy to say the least, and it's taken hours each night after work to clean them with a nail brush and soap and water. While they still are yellowed, they are vastly better looking now. They have been drying out and I can't wait to fit them back to the playfield.
Last night it took hours to clean the large plastics that have pictures on them with Novus 3 and I'm amazed at how they look. They were dull and filthy. Now they are shiny and clear, albeit slightly yellowed, no doubt because of age, but I don't mind that.
Today I'm going to try waxing the playfield carefully and can't wait. Once that's done, I will put all the parts back on to the playfield and replace all the rubbers with the lovely new set I bought.
Really can't wait!
I also aim to replace that coil on the centre lane unit, which was the incorrect type, with a NOS Bally coil that I bought.
I noticed that the flippers don't have much strength in them, and judging by what I've seen on the rest of the table, I suspect this pinball machine hasn't had much tlc over the years, so I will rectify that too. There are a few videos about flipper rebuilds, which have been very interesting to watch and learn from. No doubt I will need some more parts and skills, but it's all coming together now.
Soon I will be able to make my own lightsabre
Will create a resto thread given chance. Have been taking lots of pictures as I go.
Thanks again for the advice my friends, this is a brilliant forum
Cheers,
Johnny
