Stern : Star Wars Fall of the Empire

Have they said it’s all versions ? I was under the impression it was just the LE - made the assumption it was down to CE cert and not having that’s sorted yet (and licence was a cover) - a theme like Star Wars should be an easy sell for them in the states so assumed that would be the easy route whilst they wait on cert to come through

Has Phil / electrocoin confirmed anything yet ?
All versions apparently.

50Hz compatible version being shipped to Australia, not sure where Neils group buy is going to come from.

Thinking on now these pinball machines are IoT I wouldn't be surprised if there is an additional call home on a stern server that checks for certain values.

So when's the proper reveal meant to be again?
I wonder if the spike 3 lighting is like 2 or 3 expression lighting strips each side of the cab, rather than just 1 each side.

I'm not sure why people are surprised, Disney have always licensed there products by region and are the king/queen of maximizing every penny from every asset they own, with star wars and there crown jewels even more so. What has surprised me in the past is stuff like pinball brothers alien getting the assets, but I suspect that was to get buzz and presence about aliens before the TV show launched. Free advertising and aliens is a very different IP to star wars, far less valuable and because of the r rating for Americans more niche.

Stern having dealt with Disney would have known full well the assets are split, if they didn't well they should have, you only have to look at JJP pirates pinball, it's missing everything because pirates was a Disney crown jewel asset which every little bit was licenced and JJP couldn't or didn't want to pay for it.

Perhaps later we get the European edition with only the Star wars logo on the screen and a playfield covered with jar jar binks.

Not sure we will ever recieve the full truth but seems like either European sales are down, or EU distributors are sitting on so much unsold stock they won't be ordering in big enough numbers to cover the cost of the licence.
I'm not sure they are wrong either, Jaws is a great theme by the top designer, but not that many people here seem to have brought one 🤷‍♂️

Because Stern released Steve Ritchie Star Wars and Mandalorian?
That's true, but I'm guessing in that instance they paid up or it's totally different assets. I'm wondering if the theme incorporates multiple star wars into one game, Mando just Mando and only based upon season one of the series, the deal probably was done before the series was launched and Disney wanted the free advertising. star wars having not played it for more than two games was it only the first/fourth movie? Or was empire and jedi in it?

If the new one based upon multiple assets that might explain the cost increase resulting in not doing every territory

I would say that might be a fair guess. Mando I don't think sold well in Europe.

You could be right, got mine a fair bit under RRP

I think the bigger problem is in the UK the new machines are pretty unaffordable now for most, people are being more careful, the reality is loosing £3k to £4k on a NITB. The amount of new games per year from various manufacturers has saturated the small market.

It's possible that spike 3 has some stuff that still needs ironing out and or approved by the EU which might restrict the release. It's all speculation.

My bet is the EU market due to costs of machines has a lot of unsold stock and there won't be the demand.

I can still get a jaws 50 and various LE that would have been unheard of a couple of years ago.

Was there any video assets used in Star Wars? Dont recall actually seeing anything from the films other than stills, but think it was the original trilogy, pretty sure there were stills from Jedi and Empire on it.

Yup, I'm not buying the EU approval theory, all the other smaller manufacturers seem to manage it. Admitting they we're waiting for approval would look way better to customers than what they have done.

Perfect storm of oversaturation and rising living costs IMO, each Star Wars shipped to Europe is another previous title that will sit in a warehouse.

Ritchie Star Wars was Stern’s bestselling machine not named Godzilla

I don’t think this is anything to do with Euro distributors sitting on unsold stock - they will all be clamouring for this machine as it’ll sell like hot cakes

Maybe but it was released in 2017 a NITB was not £12k then.

I can't remember exactly what the price was, but a pro was around £6.5k, now £9k. That is a big difference and will affect selling units in todays market.

Obviously don’t know yet if Spike 3 will bring price rises… but right now Pros do not cost £9k

£8.400 + delivery so might as well be nearly £9k. Still my point is they have increased alot since 2017 at least by £2k on a pro.

Pretty sure they come with free delivery from both the major retailers.

But prices were a lot higher a year or so ago, closer to the £8900 mark.

Full assets from film and the main music.

two flipper game, eight different shots in a fan layout, main mech is on all 3 versions of the game and has a physical ball lock, game has a "force save" magnet. Full reveal by stern on Friday.

Standard John Borg layout then.

I wonder if the screen will be bigger.

Yes it's bigger, Spike 3 screen is 18.5 inch vs 15 inch on Spike 2. the Ball lock mech is the Death Star. Jabba the Hut and his pit are there too.

Very much a fan layout with single pop bumpers either side of the PF.

Double inlane on the left as many predicted and a Darth Vadar scoop for 'Vadar modes'

Luke fighting Vadar on the PF with a giant Yoda. To be fair it looks like they have every asset and very much has the look of an Empire Strikes Back theme.

I think it looks cool which has only made me more grumpy
