Ant offered me a project Star Trek: The Next Generation. I couldn't resist.

Game is definitely a project.

All ramps are cracked, playfield has severe blistering on the inserts and has severe wear on the playfield holes.

Cabinet is OK, but has suffered some severe damage from bent playfield supports. You couldn't even lift the playfield they were that bent!

Transferred over to the work horse.

Already done the T-nuts and migrated the lamp boards after cleaning them up.

Next up I focused on the subway. It was a real mess. The subway was covered in ash.

It cleaned up pretty well. Man it's quite a complicated mech.

Tomorrow I'll focus more on stripping and cleaning.

Having owned a Star Trek, that I fully stripped I would strongly recommend replacing all the opto with new ones and the cannon wire forms.

The opto can and do cause strange issues. After doing it properly the new owner had zero problems for many years, I got rid of it because I got sick of them 🤣 but I had them all fixed before hand

Good luck, star trek is one of the most complex and pain in the a### games I've worked on outside of the hobbit, which is heavier if that's even possible, it's so heavy with mechs it takes two hands to lift the playfield.

Yeah, I've got a whole host of parts arriving. Including auto eddy boards.

Just focusing on the bottom playfield removal so I can finish removal of the topside parts.

I also need a plastic set, most are broken but I can't find anyone with a full set in stock.

Check out the dirt on the top side plastics. This shot shows what it looked like before a clean.

I'm undecided what I do with the metals. I may go for a powder coat.

Always satisfying when you have a really filthy one and it cleans up.

Plastics on mine where just dirty and the subway was black, I actually thought it was black plastic 🤣
Fortunately I only had one broken plastic at the back glued it and couldn't tell the difference.

Trying to remember if there was anything else tricky, only the canon wiring loom which should be replaced it always causes problems, you have to wire it to the optos/switch can't remember in place on the playfield which was tricky

Good luck star trek is a great game when it works! It will if done right

Yeah I'm not so lucky plastic wise I get the feeling this game was abused till it just wouldn't play anymore.

Still it's very satisfying bringing it all back to life.

Today was a focus on the mechs, heavy oxidation and rusting had occurred. Due to the baby I can't get away with the tumbler or ultrasonic as it will wake him so it's back to old elbow grease and heavy amount of isopropyl alcohol and rust remover.

I've migrated most of the mechs across. Most of the time consumed changing sleeves, stops and cleaning. Everything on the old playfield is now loose and ready for removal.
