Removing hex-headed screws (ratchet kit too big)

That is when I use a small adjustable spanner.
I've got that set. It's not really working for these hex screws
I've just tried a mini-spanner set and got one hex screw out, but there isn't much horizontal clearance on some of the screws - hence why I was trying to use a ratchet set (I also currently have half-inch artificial nails, which I'm sure isn't a problem you gents experience

I assume the fittings go into the hex head? You just cannot get the purchase on them to move? If so, you could buy longer hex head screwdrivers.
Yes, they fit, but I can't get purchase on them. I think the inside of the screw is a bit corroded (the whole pin looks like it was used as an ashtray by a group of VERY heavy smokers) and it's easier to grab them from the outside.

A box spanner with tommy bar might move it.

Thank you! The smallest size of box spanner in a kit I got from Amazon.co.uk got out the screwA box spanner with tommy bar might move it.
