In Progress PnP Homebrew build topic

and yes, the GRB setting fixed it, so the colors are correct now.

the wiring is bundled somewhat together for now, will need some more attention when im moving the playfield into the cabinet, but will do for now.

The empty donor cab that I am going to use did not have hinges for the back box, this Sega model is not easy to find so i'll try to make a set myself from 2mm stainless steel

actually wanted to have it lasered, but that was all very expensive, so I decided to do it myself
first made a model of cardboard, which was drawn in autocad and printed
Found an old piece of stainless steel of 2 mm thick, grinded the shapes with the dremel

i've filed the 2 metal shapes at the same time to get it straigt and to get both shapes to match

then sanding them

a friend will be bending them with special tools, it would be hard to bend it in a vice

i'll drill the holes after i've tested them, so i can adjust the holes if neccesary

they are starting to look like the cardboard version now that they've been in the brake press

First try them on to se how they fit so i make the holes and round the corners

working on the insert leds

first placing all of the brackets on the playfield, still need to print some more as i still seemed to be a few short.
PLA colors are random just printed some with the color that was in my printer at the time

im making some led groups where im soldering the wire directly to the boards with a connector on both ends.
ingoing and outgoing connector are different to prevent shorting out the leds

fixing the board on the brackets goes easy with a 3d pen

still a lot more to go

has been a while since the last update, mostly busy with other things

i had planned on soldering a large part of the led boards and making some connectors here and there.
i bought some regular 3wire led wiring, which is commonly used for these kinds of leds.
this didnt really work out great, the wiring breaks too easily when soldered.

it helps when it starts looking like something that works and looks good

i've thrown out the 3wire stuff and used the same silicone wiring that ive used for most of the switches, which works fine

i'll be using connectors on the LED's where i can, since that works best

some visuals to go with al the pics

For the LEDs I used (cheap) Ws2812 printed circuit boards from China, I have shown the mounts a few times.

I use a 3D pen to nicely fuse the printed circuit boards to the mounts, so that they sit firmly.

In any case, such a 3D pen is useful to have, so you can easily melt things together with it, so I printed the subway under the playing field from several parts, and then joined it together with the 3D pen, which makes it it is super firm if you let it heat up slowly and let both pieces melt.

For those who are interested, I thought I would make a small video on how I make the printed circuit boards on the holders.

all insert lights are now connected and working.
I still have to make a better solution for the subway, the ball is now stuck there because of the lights.
Now to set up a decent light show and integrate the insert lights into the game
