Pinshack new build.

Another update, again overdue, to much bad sh!t going on, one of may parents passed away, Ms taz turbo tested positive for Covid, she's at home but struggling somewhat, then taz turbo jnr. tested positive for Covid, he's kind of okay, with a bit of a cough and headache, then I tested positive for Covid, again kind of okay, just feel like Iv'e had a good kicking. So progress has consequently been slower than I would of liked, but we are nearly there.....

The garage from outside, needs the block paving around the build sorting.

The garage from the pin cave secret door, just needs the dehumidifier fitting, and then I have a couple of toy cars to go in there.

Games room back wall

Games room back/end wall, the space where the neons are on the floor is where the bar is going, two bottle fridges with a counter top, the top is a bit of a project, more about that in a later update.

Games room front wall, my twin drivers, IMO their so cool.
thumbnail (64).jpg

One of the bottle fridges for the bar area, but far far more importantly... my beloved Rotation VIII, just the best pinball machine of all time, well TBH not the best game play, but for fun a novelty value, just amazing, I sooo love this machine.

Taito Space Invaders, no home should be without one of these, simple, brings out the competitive side of you and just great 1970's fun.
thumbnail (67).jpg

The front wall line up, well an excuse to look at Rotation VIII again 😎
thumbnail (70).jpg

SWEP1 out of service, not that that really matters that much! I'll be taking a look as time allows.
thumbnail (68).jpg

The small room, all complete
thumbnail (69).jpg

So to summarise, Block paving to make good, dehumidifier to install in the garage and bring the cars over, neon lights to hang, the bar top to make and fit in the games room, lighting above the bar, the wirings already there so just fitting the lamps and a few shelves to fit above the bar. Then I can give the machines some time.

Take care and stay safe everyone,

Chris.

Looks awesome @taz turbo

I have one, however it is legless (yes - it's metal box is on the floor!!)... Once i get to sorting it out, could i trouble you please for the sizes/dimensions of the legs please (Yes, an unusual request!!)

Cheers

Am really sorry for your loss - and sorry to hear about your covid Struggles 😢. Hope things improve there...

Many thanks for everyone’s kind words 👍

So, trying to use my isolation time and not go mad! I thought I would have a look at the bar top today. The idea to have a resin cast type affair with pinballs sunk into the cast...

So with a couple of bits of left over MDF skirting board and treated baton I knocked up a rough frame. Painted it black and degreased my balls 😳101176F8-311B-46B9-A3B2-89F71A9D9303.jpeg

Then mixed up the resin and poured94D2BECE-C0A4-41F8-88B8-BE5EE90A13AF.jpeg

The idea was just to see if it works on a small scale first as the cost for a 1900mm x 600mm top is going to be a bit heavy (like the top 🤣)

I like it, may possibly change the ball layout for the proper thing, all to be decided, but I haven’t got casting resin running all over my breakfast bar so that’s a bonus.

I have some white oak for the bar top perimeter, need ITRO 1500 balls, but being a tight ar5e I didn’t actually use pinballs, their to costly in those numbers so went for ammunition balls, there a low grade ball, look okay though, just to work out how much resin I’ll need, that’s the costly bit!

All the best,

Chris.

The bar top is finished, what a PITA!

Started with the base, after squaring everything up this was setting the width down the length of the top...

D952281A-05D5-4524-A096-EAA56F44B1DA.jpeg

Then setting the length...
E151C592-D170-4B3A-A1FD-AFDC7E54B331.jpeg

So then I threw down some DPM to protect the floor for the mess that was to ensue, then using steel shims, levelled up the the timbers the base was sitting on, degreased my balls 😳and then put my balls in 😳😳, 1,596 of them!

Then probably the easiest part, pouring the resin...

8B4E5203-5680-43CE-9122-F08556F90257.jpeg

A few days later the resin had hardened, then I could spend 2 days of my life flattening off the resin...

08F69664-0ADE-4BB1-BC08-103E62AD1C92.jpeg

2 days 😢

Then more flattening, I also fitted the supports to the wall, laser cut from 3.0mm mild steel, folded according and then powdered in gloss black to match the fridges, the supports can be seen at the back right of the picture...

F843A732-F372-445E-A1A5-B284D16697D9.jpeg

Then half a day of polishing...

9F6F6C14-EBF7-409A-8B04-44B5C4B8CFF3.jpeg

So I now know how Dick Strawbridge feels when Angel suggests “why don’t WE ‘just’ do...” I should of learnt from that roll of his eyes!

Would I make another top like this, 100% no, cost of materials far too much, and far far to much work, many many days, but I absolutely love it, thank you Ms taz turbo 😘

Another update, to follow imminently.

Chris.

So as 2020, not a good year for myself and I’m sure many others the same, draws to an end, I’m pleased to be able to say my build is finished*

Absolutely love it in every way (obviously it would be better if it was bigger)...

So! That’s it pinfriends, done, and finished in 2020, just.

All the very best to everyone, I hope 2021 is kinder to you all than any year so far.

Chris.

* just need a couple more machines, Stern SM and original or remake MM needed!

That is a cool piece of work, well impressed.

Hope you have a great 2021
