Open Competition at Pinfest 2025

So those that want wppr points step up and pledge your machines for the duration.
Every year my games go by request for comps even though I've long since retired from comps.
Big Phil says he's down on pledges, come on People, step up.
And yet, none of the most vocal have pledged.

Just to chime in, I haven't got a scooby about this points stuff but from what I can gather, if the tournament has a few more games and goes on a bit longer it would help UK players climb the rankings internationally?

If it helps oil the wheels I'm happy to pledge Jaws 🦈 to the competition and don't care how long it goes on for. Also, me and my son will happily collapse the other games down on the Sunday evening and help other donators load up vans etc.

As Tim said previously, we have been working in the background to try and accommodate the suggested changes and making this the biggest and best Pinfest comp it possibly can be.

It has now been confirmed by the IFPA that Pinfest Open 2025 is a certified competition. Meaning it will have a 125% boost added to the WPPR pts.

IF we get over 128 rated players this boost will increase to 150%. Last year we had 120 rated players. (Rated players are players that have competed in at least 5 IFPA competitions).

Based on last year, this will give a potential WPPR haul for the winner of 116 pts. Obviously, the more players that compete, and the more highly ranked they are that will increase the pts available.

So you know what to do, spread the word and get as many people here as possible, along with machines :)

Hello guys, im just catching up on this over breakfast before day 2 of Yegpin.
Great if we can keep the comp growing and worthwhile from a competitive persons point of view, although I do appreciate it really cant be easy.
My floor games list will have to change as some on there have now gone but Wayne if you want the 2 games we mentioned about after the Master's adding into the banks thats all fine.
I will be there Thursday until Monday morn so no stress on logistics here.
Cheers, Andy

Forgive me if it's obvious, but how does one enter the Open? I've purchased a Classic ticket, but not sure how to purchase Open...

Looking forward to another fun and exciting Pinfest!

@Wayne J - just a quick couple of questionson the playoffs rules if I could:

Do playoff participants choose each game one by one after each game completes, or will both players have to declare all their picks at the start of the match? If the former, will reasonable waiting be allowed (e.g. a game on ball 3 already) - or can players only pick a game that is not in use?

Cheers

The highest seed in the pairing will pick the first game played, or choose position.

Players will pick their first game. This will go in order of seeding, with the group with the highest seed picking first.

At the end of each game the next machine will be picked by the other player from those not currently in use (as long as they haven't picked that game previously). This is to make sure that they're aren't delays waiting for specific machines.

Just a quick question.. are there any bye's for the top (x) finishers in the qualifying rounds or does everyone who qualified play in the first round?

Mentioned in the first post Andy.

"The top 24 will qualify with the top 8 getting a bye past the first round."

Hi Wayne,

Just wondering about how ties will be broken for the players in the playoffs? Paul had it written in the rules for last year that ties would be broken based on qualifying seed, in the same way as Indisc does. However I just had a check and couldn't see it for this year, so just wanted to check if it would be the same when submitting results.

Thanks again, Craig

I'll be using the result in the round people got knocked out to split ties.

i.e. If you lost 3-2, you'll be above anybody who lost 3-1, who will be above those who lost 3-0.
If it was the same losing record theyll be grouped equal.

So for the 5th - 8th, it will be

5th= Rich Mallet & Dave Fowler
7th Craig Pullen
8th Greg Mott.

I'll be working out, and submitting the rest tomorrow with Janice.

It will be close to whether we had enough ratified players to reach Certified++ but it will be close 🫰.
