New Member looking to get out and play real machines!

Definitely m8, I get so tense in comps and thrash around like a beginner

I do the same but much less than I use to. for me I just have to frame it that your out to play pinball not play in a comp and enjoy it. hard.

Playing under pressure is an entirely different beast I would imagine. Thankfully, not had to play to an audience or competitor yet.

Ventured out this morning to make my first visit to Electric Circus in Nuneaton.

Impressive selection of machines and some arcade cabs. Got to meet @steve brum and play some ‘new to me’ tables including the fresh out of box Stern JURASSIC PARK.

Been out to play pinball again today. Fortunate enough to visit the collection of fellow forum brethren @ronsplooter

Charming chap, full of helpful advice on potential pin ownership and had some exciting ‘new to me’ pins for me to try.

Kicking myself for missing out on his recent FUNHOUSE sale now [emoji23]

I love that he's found room for a pin next to the fridge 😂 Brilliant

I might run that idea past my wife. 😏

@Gonzo He even had authentic arcade cabs of DONKEY KONG and MS. PAC-MAN and his current high-scores were adorned on the fridge with kids alphanumeric magnets. Bravo! [emoji108]

Managed to Conquer Mars today and boost my top score to date:

For those who know this table well, are the only ‘modes’ left for me to achieve, the video mode with the Mothership and Rule the Universe?

Presumably, you get the Mothership video mode by getting a Stroke of Luck award post-conquering Mars?

Any tips on lighting the Extra Ball light? Only seem to get one or two max on my best games so far.

Never played it but it does look rather saucy!

Well done mate, it looks like you've well and truly seen off those pesky Martians.

Another fun night had in Tilt! Played a couple more ‘new to me’ machines in the form of a brace from Pat Lawlor:

Mrs and I were terrible at both and ****ing ourselves laughing when Willy Wonka suddenly started taking photos of us. Fun table for sure.

@Gonzo Machines at Tilt were ace as per usual, got back to back replays off likes of CONGO, SPIDER-MAN on the lower level to kick things off. Then we tried our hands at some of the modern Sterns on the main floor by the bar: likes of JURASSIC PARK, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, STAR WARS, GHOSTBUSTERS et. al. Played these games before but still haven’t worked out what to shoot for and bizarrely GHOSTBUSTERS launched straight into the Wizard Mode ‘We Believe in You’ from the off. So you put your money in and launched ball 1 and suddenly a deluge of Multiball madness ensued. New code? A glitch? Who knows?! [emoji23]

Our favourite machines are on the upper floor with all the 90s classics such as MEDIEVAL MADNESS, ADDAMS FAMILY, TALES OF THE ARABIAN NIGHTS, MONSTER BASH, SCARED STIFF, THEATRE OF MAGIC , WHITE WATER et al. All great fun and already included pics of these on past visits.

So yeah, great night. [emoji108]

It's an option in the new code to go into he wizard mode instead of into normal play. Kirk's got it set like that at the minute so people can try the wizard mode. Downside is you only get dont get more balls, once you're out of wizard mode its game over.

Fell off visiting and posting on the forum over past couple of years but still getting out and playing pinball in the wild whenever the opportunity arises.

Most recently courtesy of this community’s own @ianw and his son Dan. Super friendly, full of information and gracious to allow my family and I to visit at short notice. Wonderful collection of machines in stunning condition. Even managed to get hands-on time with the new Godzilla!

With PinFest tickets booked and off the back of the aforementioned visit reminding me of just how friendly and supportive the pinball community here is, I wanted to get back into the habit of visiting here more often.

More likely to read than post, aware I don’t really have much to contribute, lol! But re-reading this thread, I wanted to again offer thanks to all of you that reached out to me here, via PM or face-to-face when I first joined back in 2019 and offered me your time and advice regarding pinball ownership. Alas, I’m still to make that leap - largely due to finances and the prices only seem to have gone up - but the dream is still very much alive.

Anyway. Hope to raise a pint with members here at PinFest. Cheers!

I thought you could set that in the same way you can set it on spike 2 machines with both flipper buttons.

Make sure you enter the classics competition purely so you can play Star Gazer - its one of the most rare and brilliant games ever made and one of the top 3/4 games that are going to be at the show.

Ghostbusters could only bet set to Wizard Mode through door menu, flipper button option isn't there (or it wasn't at launch - I haven't played it for a long time)

“You gonna talk or play?!” - Thrilled to finally have netted my 1st Pin.

Been approx 3 years since I joined this site and had the pleasure of loaning a 90s original Attack From Mars with colour DMD off Barry P. Had that machine for many months and missed having a pin at home ever since.

Taken awhile to get the cash together especially in view of the significant rise in prices but ultimately it was time to bite!

Enormous thanks to @Wayne J and @Sven Normansson for the advice, face-to-face support and introductions made on my behalf. Plus, a big thank you to those of you within this forum community who’ve been responsive to my many questions asked, lol!

Major kudos to original owner
@David King (and his Good Lady) of Tilt Cafe bar in Leicester fame. Who went above and beyond to deliver and set-up the machine for me. Refreshing to know kindness can go hand in hand with a financial transaction.

Been one of the toughest few months in my entire life due to a very close and totally unexpected family bereavement. The pure fun and much needed distraction a pin at home can provide for me and my family is priceless.

Just one of the many reasons this hobby and its community is so magical and I’m so grateful to have discovered it.

Hope to raise a glass with you come PinFest.

Cheers. - gone fishin’

Dragged the better half along with me for the three days at PinFest (my holiday treat) and then set off for Spain at 3am this morning, the two kids in tow (the family holiday treat, ha! ha!) only to find this in the kids arcade area. Get in!

Could do with a good clean but the flippers work - set at a rather steep 2 Euro for single game of 3 balls. But she’ll do for me on this trip, lol!

Not sure I’ve ever played this machine before.

This is making for some welcome poolside reading. Also got Pinball Memories lined up to read when I get back courtesy of @Dave Bishop .

Any other pinball themed book recommendations? Will add them to the Christmas list, lol!
