A friend has a juke box that has stopped working. It’s an NSM Old Fashion Wizard.
They don’t want it anymore and wondered if it is worth anything should they try to sell it?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have a similar era NSM wall mounted cd jukebox. These things are about the cheapest jukeboxes you can buy.

Working, they tend to sell for about 300 to 400 on ebay.

Broken, complete ones are maybe 100 to 150.

Just like pinball machines they are often advertised with buy it now prices of double or treble the real value.

They weigh about 75kg and there are guys operating out of back garden sheds that can fix them.

I paid £480 for my working NSM Firebird back in Sept 2017 came with a new cd mech and new lamps.

@ronnie63 has an interest in Jukeboxes he may make you an offer.

@Garry Sp8 - This is ES5 technology in this machine. If the laser has failed you can not get replacements.

This is why I advise people only to buy ES5.1 or ES6 NSM technology (most the time they dont listen)....... This uses a different laser that you can replace the laser diode for about £20.

If the laser goes all you can do is pop in a used one - that will usually cost a couple of hundred quid for a working used one - that could last a week or 10 years.

When they work they are great machines. Have wonderful amps.

Even if you go the touch screen conversion way with these - it is still expensive to convert. I have literally thrown away 40 of these when I used to buy job lots. I couldnt sell them as I couldnt warranty the technology. If the laser worked, I would sell them as-is on ebay. Kept the page turners and kept the doors as these are interchangeable across all the wall mounters. Gave the PCBs to a mate to sell on his site. The old fashioned wizard was the least popular. Most popular are performer wall 2000 and emerald ice.

If I was you put it on ebay on a £1 listing day for £1 start and take what you can get.

ON THE OTHER HAND. If the laser is okay - most of this post is not applicable. What is it doing and not doing? Have you checked all the fuses?

@Pick Holder

I have a nsm performer selector with the moving chaser light. I bought this model as in my opinion it is the best looking and most engaging of all the wall mounts I have seen.

If the lazer dies, what are my options pls ? Is there any "new" option at all or is it a case of only being able to buy used kit and keep fingers crossed ?

If the latter I am inclined to sell it and replace with more of a "future proof" model as I am a long term holder.

What are the "future proof" models you would recommend please?

Is there a model I can use my existing artwork and cd titles in ? - as printing them all out was a HUGE task.

Would best bet to be buy a replacement es5.1,.put my discs and art in, then sell my current one?

Can I reuse my NSM remote control in a es5.1 ?

Thank you

Thanks for the info. I'm possibly going to pick it up next week so will have a tinker - will report my findings.

Okay @DRD - what you have here is a bitsa - it is the top part of a door from one machine, the keypad off another and glass off another machine.

This happens alot with these as a lot of spares are interchangeable. A performer selector used to link to a hideaway or a performer wall, so you could have two wall boxes off once machine in different parts of the pub.

Absolutely NOTHING wrong with it. It may of actually come from me at some point as I made three machines up with all the spares I had over the years.

By the look of this mech is it es5.1 technology - if you open the door and take a photo of the mech for me I can be 100% - at the moment I am 90% sure,

I picked up the Old Fashion Wizard a while back and tried to get it to work but the right side picker kept fouling up and then it just wouldn't do anything except report an error. A mate put me in touch with a guy called Keith and he fixed it in his garden shed.
Seems to working nicely now .
@Pick Holder - do you know if I can get software for doing the title cards? They are 180 x 120mm in size.
Cheers

I tried looking for software and wasted loads of time, ended up making templates on my MacBook. Also using the off white card laser printed which looks good.

I have written an app (Java) that integrates with Music Biz API and produces NSM compatible PDFs, 9 per page if my memory serves me right.

Been meaning to share it for sometime now but was hoping to get it building a Windows compatible exe first and its a task that keeps getting dropped down the priority list, I'll share the Mac installer soon.
