Hot Tub Removal

So the new house has a great big hot tub in the conservatory. We have no intention of ever using it and I would like to get BSD in there. How hard is it going to be to remove? Does anyone have any experience of these things? It seems as though the floor in the conservatory was built around the hot tub with underfloor plumbing so the whole floor will need to be replaced. I haven't switched it on yet and wouldn't even know how to but I am assured it's working. Any ideas how to about getting this thing out?

It's interesting how people spend thousands putting things like this in their house, then someone else comes along and spends thousands taking them out.

Excuse the mess, still unpacking...

Yeah currently reinstating the fireplaces that they took out too!

Doubt it's plumbed it. Looks like a freestanding one. Just electric to disconnect and lift (they're heavy af).

Lift the floor first, see what youve got.

Looks like a fairly standard hot tub. I would guess it’s pretty much just sitting on the floor/base can you remove the side panels and see how it’s all put together and wether it’s plumbed in etc?

edit: what strobey said

Ah didn't realise the side panels came off. That will make it easier to assess if so! Will give that a try in the morning. I did try lifting it momentarily and it seemed as though the floor underneath was cutout so I dropped it quickly in case any pipes came loose.

And I've had a bottle of wine and will take it away for no extra cost to the zombie man so he doesn't put it on eBay and buy it back again lol 😂🤭

It's a great sex pond no doubt. I wouldn't know anything about that of course being married. ****sake.

Was that big mirror in that room or did you bring it with you ?
Brought it with us. It's probably going to be for sale as the ceilings aren't nearly as high in this house. So much that we need to sell actually.

Don’t be so hasty! You might grow to like it!
Dexter is loving Wales by the way! I take it back entirely about him having the same personality as my old Weimaraner....he is totally nuts with added extra nuts!!! We love him to bits but my god, what a crazy dog! My hands are cut to shreds. I have a feeling that if someone broke in he would lick them to death and savage me.

That looks like a standard plug n' play unit hot tub. Usually the water stays in the all the time and it's only cycled out 1-3 times a year (depending on spermicide levels). They can be kept 'clean' using bromine or chlorine. We have them here in North America as well. They just use standard household voltage so over here it's 120V. You can hardwire them to 220V if you want, but most people don't bother doing that any more. If it's just plugged into the wall then it's only using electricity to power the heater and cycle the pump at low speed. Once you hit the jets the heater switches off so you don't blow a circuit. If it's hardwired, then the high speed jets and heater are able to work at the same time.

That unit looks pretty new. Two seater it looks like. If it works you can sell it for some quick cash. A unit like that, with a working heater and working pump, here in Canada, would probably sell for $1000. You could probably sell it for $500 and list it as buyer has to move it.

I'd investigate the model and what they sell for before you toss it depending on what it is you might get enough to buy at least a few pinball parts.

Yes was thinking the same, eBay buyer collects and dismantle’s
(Unless Martin could fit it in?..........)

Just found the user manual for it! Looks to be a Serenity from around 2002. The old lady nextdoor said it had been there around 20 years. I'll have a go at removing some panels later but it looks to be hardwired at the wall at least.
