Hitting the Jackpot at the Office - 12th November

How do you pay for the parking, I thought it said to come back to the page from the 2nd Nov onwards to pay for parking but cant find a link for it.

Hope everyone can still make it - if there are any last minute dropouts please do shout as I know of at least one other person keen to join in... looking forward to it!

@Hiltoncriss Any update on how we pay for parking, found this on the League/Tournament page but cant find the original booking page to pay for parking anywhere.

If you need to use our on site car park, you will be able to book in anytime between 5th - 12th November on our website. Just return on the same booking page and you fill find a new category called "Parking for the Tournament day £3".

I just spoke to Chris - it turns out it's a lot more work than he thought to get the carpark booking on the website so he's not had time to do it. If you check back on the website on Friday or Saturday, it will be ready. You can also always pay on the day if needed. No need to worry. :) @Fantazia2 @AndyB

Unfortunately Roy Smith and Jim King won’t be able to make it. Conrad was next on the list and he confirmed that he will come.
One more spot available, if anyone else wants to come, please let me know.
Chris

Just home from a fantastic day at the pinball office. Huge thanks to Chris, what a great venue and collection of machines. Thanks also to Claire for running a great event as always.
Was good to see you kev, well played on LOTR did my best to try and catch up!

What a brilliant Tournament, I never thought setting off on the morning that I would even make the finals let alone somehow pull off a 2nd Place finish.

First time at the Pinball Office and what a great venue it is, it would be a shame for the community to lose it and I wish there was something in the north like it as would be a regular visitor if it was closer.

Well done to Claire for hosting who did a brilliant job of organising everything including booking lunch.

And I won this battle of the Chris's but the war wages on

Was great to see you Chris and to play a round with you too! See you soon!

Was another fantastic day at the office. It's the people that makes these events so enjoyable and was very true for yesterday with some great friendly competition and socialising.

Thanks as ever go out to Claire for running the comp, you're becoming a Pro and Chris for hosting. Very well done to a different Chris for makng the final; you were very unlucky on Pokerino.

The Pinballl Office is a fab venue and I just hope that the locals and regulars can help support Chris in enabling the venue to stay open.

Very many thanks
Greg

PS just wish I didn't feel quite such a zombie this morning!

Just to reiterate what others have already said, another great day at the Office, wish I had managed to play a bit better, but no one to blame for that but myself! Big thanks to Chris for keeping going after such little sleep and providing such a great event and venue as ever, as well as to Claire for her organisation and TDing under some pretty tough conditions at times. Congrats to the finalists and well done @robotgreg on the win.

Another great comp at The Office, huge thanks to @Lecari for running and @Hiltoncriss for hosting. I thoroughly enjoy all the comps I attend but there's something extra special about a 'home game' and seeing people from all over the country converge to enjoy the Office and the games, long may it continue.

Congrats to Greg on the win and hugely well played Chris in second! Also shout out to George B for qualifying in joint 2nd, these under 16s are only getting better and better!

Fantastic day, thanks everyone for making it a success 😁

Huge congratulations to lovely Chris @Fantazia2 for his amazing play. I thought you were done for on Creech considering how it played but you smashed it on ball 3👏.

Congratulations to Greg for the victory, glad to see you back after your TILT performance recently 😁 never underestimate the Mott!

Thanks to @Hiltoncriss for providing such a wonderful venue and selection of games. The office is a great environment for a pinball event with plenty of space, seating and options if you want to get away from the action.

Now I'd like some feedback
What are people's thoughts on the finals format this time? It ran slightly longer than the previous which was top 8 qualifying and two four player games (one for semi and one for quart) and a 3 game four player final (unfortunately ifpa made that method worth less if you only play 1 game for semi and quarter).

This time too 16 qualified (which seems better for such a big player base) and you get head to head play, which in my opinion is better when you've spent all day playing four player games already.
(Same reason we do the opposite on Pinhaus).

I was worried about it taking much longer but it didn't seem bad considering we started half an hour later in the morning and finished half an hour later.

Feedback appreciated 😁

No problems with the format at all David, it worked perfectly imo. Extending finals to top 16 a great move although it worked against me I guess as I qualified in 7th only to be destroyed by The best Chris of the day in the first round 😅.

David,

I like the format generally, had a great time and would happily play the format again. Its always well run at the Office and always good vibes and friendly which for me is the number one important thing.

I would possibly have made it a top 12 rather than top 16 and given the top 4 a bye to the quarter finals. I like to see doing well all day rewarded somewhat.

I would probably take LOTR out of the rotation as it plays extremely long particularly with 2 or 3 good players.

Really great comp - sincere thanks @Hiltoncriss. I fully appreciate running the Pinball Office is an extremely difficult task - the tournaments bring everyone together and a great time was had by all. THANK YOU for all your efforts.

@Lecari and @David_Vi superb work as usual with the game setup and organisation. Understand the hard work and planning/effort that goes on behind the scenes. A wonderful tournament.

Congrats @robotgreg - a two time winner at this venue now! Playoff experience came through in the end, maybe you intimidated everyone else by having your book detailing your very successful pinball career clearly displayed for all to see ;)

@Fantazia2 - WOW. Delighted for you, that was some performance - especially that 100M+ ball 3 comeback on Creech vs Conrad. Superb play.

@Lebowskis Rug - the problem with byes and top 12/more 'interesting formats' is I think IFPA penalise this in terms of less WPPR points. So unfortunately unless it is a fun comp only, there are restrictions on what can be arranged. Top 16 was a enjoyable change to allow others to have a chance of playoff action - very exciting. Don't think it should be every time, but this time was I'd say worked well.

Well done U16s - really impressive - the competition is certainly heating up!

In general - the standard of play is really getting good in the UK - there are no easy games... I can see a lot of people that have improved recently, good stuff!

See you all at the next one - a thoroughly enjoyable day.
