So, I'm just documenting my garage conversion. No more will I be limited to 4 pins in the dining room!

We tossed between the idea of making this a permenant conversion by replacing the garage door or not. Permenant meant full planning permission and would mean further delays. We've gone with permenant in the end but its definitely added more cost and delay.

So the garage space:

The front:

The proposed design:

The clear out of stuff:

All cleared out:

To meet the demands of the council we needed to expand the drive. So the front garden had to go:

Next the flooring going in:

Type 1 going in:

Will update as the process continues. Work looks to complete wthin a week or so!

Could have kept the garage door as a fascia and removed the bracketry, blocked up behind you and no planning required 😉

Looks like it will be an awesome space when complete.

So the question is, how many pins will it hold?? ;)

I bet there will end up with 12 pins?? What's on the wish list??
12 sounds about right.

I keep buying expensive ones so my collection is only going up in cost, not quantity at the moment.

I really want a 2-3k pin next something like a BSD, Fish Tales or Johnny mnemonic maybe a Shadow?

I definitely want some 90's pins put it that way.

EMs are smaller and cheaper...;)

Glad when I converted my single garage I wasn't into pins, else I would have no utility room :)

Good luck, looks awesome.

Looks great so far.
100% you made the right choice to make it a proper room
Pity the council made you dig up your front garden... rules are crazy, as i am sure you never used the garage as a parking space !

Yeah pita as it's just another gravel front like all the others. We have a big back garden so that's something.

Most of the drive extension completed yesterday. I believe the top stone (decorative stone) is being laid on Monday.

I went with Laminate flooring in the end. Has no seams so it should still be fine for PInball legs. Worst case I buy rubber shoes for the feet.

Floor screed and electricals go in tomorrow. Should be good!

Going to have this massive space with so little pins in it lol...

Looking very good mate! I am sure you are aware, but the screed takes ages to dry (just finding that out on our build), so don’t rush the flooring.

Yeah we got the flooring ahead of schedule as was worried we wouldn't be able to source the one we wanted. There were like 3 packs left by the time I took all mine (13).

With supply these days you never can guarantee things. We're fitting the flooring I believe First week of December.

That’s going to be a great space! I’d like more space and not have to haul the pins upstairs *looks at own garage and wonders*

I love my laminate flooring. I put Furniture cups under each leg - the pins are easy to move around.

I use the large clear 60mm ones with felt on the underside:

Keeping an eye on this great project...
Mine will be started on proper when my second bedroom is done.. (Bit premature by putting two pins in).

I'll be interested in your choices of colour and flooring. I jump between carpet tiles, karndean, laminate, and short pile carpet.

I got some furniture sliders from wilko recently on a reccomendation from @Dave Playman and they work great. Probably similiar to what Alan has reccomended... Might pick up some of those also as they look to make moving and nudging easier on the tiles with the felt!

Just don't use them for tournaments, you'll be amazed at just how far top players can slide a machine without tilting... rubber feet are a must for tournaments.

Mine seemed ok at the last league meet, but i may swap the front ones for rubber feet at the next league meet.

Updates today:

Electrics are mostly in. Partition is up to keep some garden tool space etc.

Wall has started for the window.

Room is really looking to take shape. Looks like I'll get 4-5 pins down one side and 3 down the other. Not my wanted 12 but I doubt I'll ever be able afford that number anyway. 🤣

When the builders ask you to put the electrical heater in the garage to help heat the plastering work.
