After my previous thread and from the advice I have received from the forum (thanks)

I have decided to put my project Williams flintstones out for long term loan.

I bought this as a project a couple of months ago, started got half way through and full blown renovations have started in the house, so won’t get around to complete it until then, I don’t want to store it in the garage as it will get damp.

The complete top of the playfield has been stripped, it’s all in boxes.
All the removed screws now have surface rust on them.
I started to clean everything but it will need to be redone.
It needs full new bulbs, a pop bumper metal bracket. Full rubber set, and the 5v wasn’t working.

If anyone likes to tinker and rebuild these, I would propose a long term loan of 6 months to rebuild the machine to a good playable condition (don’t worry about the cabinet)

I will also cover any repair costs up to £300, if any other bills over that they
are to be covered by whoever loans the machine.

I am based in Oswestry, Shropshire.
The loaner would need to cover the cost of transport to them, I’ll cover it back to me.

I have the manuals, and lots of photos from the strip down.

It’s what’s been suggest by multiple members to do this… it wasn’t my initial idea and thought it was odd too… but hey ho! Anyway You’ve declared your interest, I have your address, it’ll be on your doorstep next week 👍🏻

Great, my wood burner is ready.

In all seriousness, I just don’t see what the loanee is getting out of this? By the sounds of it, this is a load of hours labour and then you get to play The Flintstones for a few months.

I see what’s in it for you mate and if you get a taker, hats off to you!

Ask anyone that has posted here if you like

I've been fighting myself as to if I should get into this but can't help myself....

5 years ago I brought a Congo for strong money from this guy with a spare playfield and ramps. I turned up and it was sitting on the floor (no legs) in a shipping container with condensation falling from the roof and there was no glass in the pin!!! If I hadn't driven so far and wanted a Congo so badly I would have walked away.

Apparently it was in the container for the same reason he wants shot of his wreck of a Flintstones, house renovations.

He went and got the glass (covered in grass and weeds as it was in the garden) and gave it to me with rusty legs.

Got the game home and unsurprisingly it wouldn't start a game. I am still owed a DMD that he promised to post to me but I gave up after repeated requests.

Avoid this guy like the plague!!!

Sorry for the moan and if he's anyone's mate but that was my experience and it might save others trauma 🥰

So…. You want someone to fix a knackered game for you for max £300 then?

Jesus

Just sell it as a project for what it cost you. A thousand pounds perhaps?

Surely you should at least pay the courier each way ?

Seems a bit mad to expect someone to pay to rebuild your pin, also what's to stop someone lifting it and basically disappearing with your game ?

I doubt any one wants a Flintstones

This sounds like the chance of a lifetime. Did you actually read what your wrote?

You're expecting anything over £300 for the repair to be covered by the loanee. On top of that the courier has to be paid both ways.

I'm not really seeing any value in this whatsoever.

But the other 16 odd games I have sold to members here along with hundreds of parts and never had an issue.

One sale you may have not been happy with, you could have always walked away, doesn’t make a bad seller, far from it.
Congo was put into storage for no more than a week, and it was working when I went in.
Let’s not forgot there is two sides to a story, to the band of merry men that want to jump on this

But again, this was “5 years ago”

Have you actually read the post yourself? This was suggest by other members for me to offer it this way!

Yes I read the post. Just because someone tells you to put your hand in the fire doesn't mean you have to.

I’ve actually done exactly this before - only I paid all the repair costs, and the transport both ways, and for the persons time. I also called it ‘sending a machine to be shopped out’ as opposed to ‘long term loan’.

Yes 5 years
