Fantasy UKCS finals competition

Thats good to know and i will certainly fill up the diary.

So its look like if you live in the south of England you are much more likely to qualify as travelling and costs are likely to be less. So we need a massive tournament in Scotland / NW / NE to help address the balanc

Here's a link to the UKCS tracking spreadsheet I am going to be running this year.

@PAZ clearly the man for a spreadsheet 👍👍👍
Are you going to do one for the UKCS Fantasy comp … so we can have a ‘Live’ round by round update ?
People could stick £2.00 in as a side comp… with winner taking 50% and 50% to The George Overseas target 🎯
A few lookup formulae and Boom 🤯

No gambling on IFPA tournaments you’re part of… on pain of suppression!

Simon Peacock being overlooked cause no one knows him and also he doesn't play in comps... But he's knocked all the top 10 out of comps and also won a handful he's actually turned up too
There's definitely regional bias in the picks people are making - going with who you know.
Simon is only in the bottom seeded group due to not playing as much as others.
I hated having to play against him at Tilt as I knew it would always be a tough match.

Less than three weeks to go till the UKCS finals at PBR - featuring 64 of the best players in the UK who will lock horns over 2 days to determine the Champion.

I thought why not have a bit of fun, cheer on your favourites and predict those who will catch the eye and perform at UKCS with a fun fantasy comp.

The way it will work is this - each participant will choose a team of 8 players (team names optional!). These will be selected from the 64 players who have confirmed they are taking part. I have divided the player list into 8 groups based on UKCS seeding - all you have to do is pick ONE from each of the 8 groups to form your team, and post your team by reply to this thread (no edits - choose carefully!)

SCORING:

At the end of the event, the each player in your team will score points based on their finishing position in the competition (using final standings submitted to IFPA). For example, if you chose the winning player you will score 1 point for that player, and if you picked the person who came last that player would score 64 points for your team. You self-add all the finishing positions of all your players at the end of the competition and that is your final team score - reply to your own team selection post with your score! Obviously the lowest scoring team will win - hope that is clear - questions welcome. Good luck!

NB - if you pick a player who doesn't show up, that player will score 65 points automatically(!)

Remember pick ONE player only from each group below...

Having already made my picks based on just who I've encountered, and being surprised by some of the picks from others, I thought I'd try and take a stats based approach.

In the same way that the IFPA creates the Power 250, only matching results against the other players in the top 250. I've done the same for each seeded group.

Like with all stats, there are provisos.
These are all-time historic head to head meetings, and thus don't take in to effect improvement or form. This will impact the faster improving players more.
There are also pockets of players who have never actually faced each other over 5 times so get an automatic 50% W/L record.

Based purely on these figures, people should be picking
Craig > Will > Yuen > Matt > Josh > Nathan > Dan > Pete
Greg > Peter > David > Owen > Gene > Dan Pi > Dan Pr > Simon
Wayne > Brad > Andy > Kevin > Conrad > Ulf > Reece > Ian
Stan > David T > Kate > Emily > George > Dan O > Nick > Glen
Steven > Graham > Dan > Neil > Martin > Jon > Lucy > Gareth
Ed > Keith > Chris > Brad > Nick > Richard > Ian > Will
Clive > Jeremy > Fran > Sergio > Alan > Eduardo > James H > James A
Simon > Vin > Stewart > Phil > Tim > Roy > Isaac > Diane

Who knows how much 'home advantage' may play a part or experience and nerves.

We'll all find out in less than couple of weeks.
