Yes, it’s Jan to Dec

Qualification is based on how many WPPRs you’ve earned from UK events. You need to have played a minimum of 5 tournaments during the year and up to 20 tournaments count (your best 20 if you play more). This year the cut line ended up being at around 37 WPPRs.

If you’re serious about wanting to qualify, then this year’s UK Open / EPC in September will be a pretty big opportunity, as is PinFest.

Not to mention EAPO next month...

Thanks its good to know.

UK open and Pinfest - Good because the tornamnets are waited due to size and level of competition?

Then I imagine small events like Flippers on fire @ Retroids are included but dont count for much?

Do tournaments from any country count?

Last but not least, do the various leagues around the country also get included?

First place at Retroids last tournament was worth over 28wpprs, so pretty close for what you would need to qualify in theory. Obviously the more tournaments you enter around the country, the more chance you have to qualify, because as has been said you can have your top 20 results of the year count towards your total.

I personally would recommend that you go to tournaments at PBR, SWL, Pinball Office, Pinball Factory, Retroids, Medway, Pinfest, EAPO, and UK Open. This will give you a chance to get points at different tournaments, allow you to try games that you wouldn't see week in, week out, plus help keep those venues running and open to all.

The bigger tournaments are weighted because the player pool is of a high quality. The UK Open for instance attracts players from all over the world, and even if you finish in 60th place, it will still be worth a lot of points. I personally think that just playing against a wide range of people also encourages you to up your own game, plus gain insights and information from other players. Most people are happy to pass on advice and tips so don't be afraid to ask.

Thats good to know and i will certainly fill up the diary.

So its look like if you live in the south of England you are much more likely to qualify as travelling and costs are likely to be less. So we need a massive tournament in Scotland / NW / NE to help address the balance.

There are definitely more tournaments down south, but it sounds like the place in Newcastle, Star Bar is it, may be looking to host something. There was a Yorkshire Pudding tourney a couple of years back, but you are correct, time and money are a factor. I'm currently booked in the the EAPO, UKCS, and The British Masters, all of which require multiple nights hotel, fuel, eating out etc.

At the end of the day the most important thing is to enjoy it. Playing pinball should be fun, and if costs/time etc get in the way, then just limit what you do. Nobody says you have to play every event, nobody says you have to qualify for the UKCS ( it is a very serious tournament which rewards the winner with entry to the World Champs, and is less enjoyable than some of the 'smaller' events Ii personally find). Good luck and I'll see you at a tourney soon!

G1 - Craig Pullen > Will Jarvis
G2 - Owen Lloyd > Greg Mott
G3 - Wayne Johns > brad Attwood
G4 - George Bennet > Kate Rothwell-Jackson
G5 - Lucy Vince > Dan Williams
G6 - Chris Poyntz > Keith Burden
G7 - Sergio Olave > Jeremy Baynham
G8 - Simon Peacock > Isaac Granby

Going for a runner up for each group too... Simon Peacock being overlooked cause no one knows him and also he doesn't play in comps... But he's knocked all the top 10 out of comps and also won a handful he's actually turned up too

After much deliberation, a few dice roles and several beers I have settled on
1. DPock (The man with a missing vowel)
2. Pracher (The poacher)
3. Wayne (Not John)
4. Emily (The sauce)
5. He who shall not be named
6. RJR (Lord of the Pins)
7. The Surge
8. Phil (The power)
