Is that Montu's Corvette you grabbed Nibsy?

I played it when I went over to his a few weeks back. Played lovely and plenty to do for a reasonable price. I'm out of the market for now but was sorely tempted.

No, the one I got was just outside Glasgow. I believe Montu's was at nlp/play expo and still for sale.

Dave always does a cracking job on his refurb pins and this is no exception.
Stunning work and like Chris has already said , you won't find a nicer one.

Hmmm, non original and heavily modded.

Is that actually what people want?

Surely it's horses for courses?

I'm not a fan of heavy modding and would prefer the original cab artwork, but I would be very tempted if I had room for this, the playfield and functionality are the main issues I consider when buying. (or at least I will in the future, after learning from past mistakes)

I got a taste for Indy 500 at the show, it's a great fast game, seems underrated to me for the price they go for, I would be willing to pay around 800-900 for it but I'm saving up for something newer...

(and just look how shiny that lockdown bar is....wish I could do that to mine!)

I guess it's all un-doable with the exception of the missing light board. Not exactly an easy to find part, but at least one you could self fabricate.

Try turning the speaker panel around and you will find the original one.
That's if what you mean by light board.

No I mean the white bit behind the translite. Which appears to be 100% missing and replaced with a florescent tube.

"Backboxillumination provided by a single fluorescent tube. This eliminates the innerdoor together with all those heat generating filament bulbs the cause of somany GI problems."

(carbon quite from ebay.... including the lack of spaces)

Maybe 'inner door' is the right term.

Very easy to make one, I have made two in the past for water damaged machines. But I am sure whoever bought could ask Dave for the old board if they wanted it back to original. Thats if he has it of course.

The inside of that cabinet looks incredibly neat and tidy, probably better than when it came out of the factory :-)

But the external photos are not great (not the pin itself, which we cant see that well) - big reflections, and just shots where you really get no idea of how good it really might be. Shame really. Hopefully the buyer will be off group/forum and have seen it in the flesh, so don't need a photo. Will maybe try a photography tips post if I can find the energy / time.

1120 already....surprised, a decent original sold but with cab fade for only just over a grand just a couple of weeks ago.

Ever the optomist, the guy is still trying to hawk his knackered DE SW on eBay. Still asking > £2750 for it too. Absolutely unbelievable.

I see that the Demolition Man that 'sold' last week for a grand is now back on ebay with a buy it now price of a grand...

To summarise:

Machines are generally good nick (I think JumboSinbad had one off him)

Rumours of shill bidding to push prices up

Massive hoo-har over a playfield which was given free of charge because he said he had a Black Rose and then low and behold he sold a Black Rose playfield on eBay. Some kind people are giving him the benefit of the doubt but the guy who donated it said the pictures on eBay were the exact same one he gave him for free.

Guys I need a pinball fix badly...you guys obviously have knowledge of the machine and guy that did it. How do you value it,is it worth paying a premium for ? Cant decide wether to bid or not

If your talking about the Taxman's I500 then as I've said, it's one of, if not the best condition one I've ever seen. Difficult to value as it's a custom game with the F1 inspired cab art and translite but I will say that whoever gets it won't be disappointed. I played it at Swavesey and it was fast and brutal but awesome :)

It's a good game Carl. Why there's not more pics though is worrying, you'd need some of that 'wear and tear' that's mentioned.

+1

System 11 pf's can take a bit of a battering, especially a popular game like ES. You'd definitely want more pics or even better go and have a look. If the pf is mylared then checking for sunken/raised inserts and excessive bubbling is a priority. If it's not mylared then checking for wear to the paint is the key. I think that ES has a backglass rather than a translite (not 100% on this though) so make sure thats in good nick.

Chris is right - most ES playfields will have some wear. For good reason - its one of THE best Sys 11 games, a Pat Lawlor classic. It was my 2nd machine, I finally sold it, then regretted it ....bought it back when the chance arose and now my brother has it for safekeeping :D And yes it has a glorious mirrored backglass not a translite.

The seller is a good guy and I'm sure will help you out with more pics.

I'm quite new here, but even I heard there was a bit of a hoo-har involving this seller.

Yup he has a very rocky history

Thanks for the responses guys, sadly I missed out as the listing ended above my budget. I'll have to wait a little longer to purchase my first table then :(
