i noticed that he has listed a few games at 99p starts and no reserve, so good luck to him with those - maybe he's decided to turn over a new leaf.

he does have a bit of history though - he was the guy that bought the Whitewater at the Daventry show for £1800, then sold it 24h later for £2295 (i think). there was also a bloke on the yahoo group who mentioned that he wasn't always honest in his ads - for example he was selling a TOM and describing having owned it for years and that he'd put new decals on it, but the guy on yahoo was saying that actually he'd got it off him (maybe via someone else) just a few months before and that the new decals were pure fiction. why would someone make that up?

he joined the forum last week with the name Kristian, and was looking to buy games in several threads, but i've not seen him in a few days. i've never met him or traded with him, but when i hear stories like that, it makes me make my own personal decisions about buying/selling with him. i have no idea if he likes pinball or not, but he's certainly a businessman and out to make a few quid. nothing wrong with that, some would say (there's an active thread about that very subject just this evening) so long as there's no porkies being told.

anyway, like i said, anything that starts low and has no reserve and is allowed to finish without shilling, and is paid and collected by another person is a good deal. so let's hope the auction goes the distance.

meh. make your own mind up

Thanks for info cooldan. I just wish the location was closer as I live in Birmingham (like you Paul I see!) so travelling to view the table is a bit out of the way for me. Wonder if anyone lives near to him (Colchester i believe) that has ever checked his pins out. He is also saying that he can deliver the tables as well for a price.

Might keep my eye on it to see if it lasts the distance or if any shilling takes place on it. The only Next Gen that was for sale last week ended with no bids and had a starting price of £1995 on it.... wonder if people are trying to ask just a little too much for this table (even tho it is a great one) at the moment.

I hope i'm not talking out of turn but I think Jumbosinbad picked up a table from him. I didn't hear anything negative about the transaction but if you need an opinion then maybe worth asking him?

I was thinking exactly the same thing Daz. He expressly stated he wanted it to go to someone for a refurb and not to be flipped on eBay.
Might not be the same one but bloody coincidental.

The description and the quality of the playfield are very similar.
Well I belive the seller is on here under another name so lets see if he clears this up.

Really? That's some classy **** right there.

Yup, that's the one I gave away for free in good faith to someone who told me they'd been sold a duffer by Pinball Paradise.

People have absolutely no ****ing morals at all these days.

Anyone ever had any dealings with happyslapper off ebay?
you got your answer. in reply to this generous community-minded offer, he just picked it up and sold it :

"I've got a Black Rose playfield I don't need, it's not complete, much ofthe looming is still attached, lots but not all of the underside parts are
still there, topside metal bits are rusty or broken (wireforms for example but lane guides are fine), the plastics are crap, but the actual playfield
art itself looks pretty intact, and not worn around the SINK SHIP letters. Actually it's probably slightly better than the one in my machine but
there's no way I'm ever going to do the swap (in fact the one I'm keeping has been in bits for over a year now).

It's free to anyone who wants it - I'd *appreciate* it if that person is someone with a machine who wants to upgrade what they have, I'd rather it
not be someone who wants to pick up a freebie and then sell it."

i hope they ban him from this forum, from the yahoo group, and from anywhere else he chooses to hang out, like a cynical parasite

:(

The one thing that's struck me since joining the pinball community is just how amazingly helpful and friendly people are. People doing crap like this just works against the entire community and lessens people's willingness to be so charitable.

Disgraceful behaviour.

What a sh*t, can't believe the nerve... What the hell is going on these days!?

Money and greed drive the world and everything in it obviously.

Not everything JMP - let's keep in mind that there are still a massive number of good guys out there. :)

The problem is with idiots like that you have a harder time working out who to trust and who not to. It's a real shame there's no method for having a 'reputation' system whereby people can easily see who to trust and who to avoid.

Maybe this forum could start a trusted seller/trader list with members voting other members/traders onto the list after good experiences.

I think Paul already did that here: http://www.pinballinfo.com/community/threads/how-do-you-hdy-buyer-seller-trading-feedback.3481/

It's difficult when you have people posting elsewhere (such as the Yahoo Group) under different names to those they use on here. Of course the utopia would be a system that worked across all forums and groups but that would be pretty much impossible to make or at least impossible to police. People can easily use different names and mail addresses if they want to try to hide what they're doing.

The fact we're even discussing it makes me sad. :-(

Still have 4 or 5 recent STTNG listings saved on my eBay as I new I was selling mine shortly and needed to get a rough idea of what they went for.HS sold one for £2045.00,ended July 14.That one at least had the correct black legs.

It might be easier to start a 'Hall of Shame' for the bad ones. if you don't want to be on that list, don't turn people over.

That's the reason I didn't go in for the 'Freebie Friday' idea. I've got a ****-pile of pinball stuff I'd be happy to give away, but not to some money-grabbing prick who just wants to whack it on bay for 100% profit.

Judging by the size of the house in the background he looks like he really needs the money too.

Great idea, but they are mostly used parts from my restorations like ramps, doors, glass, legs etc. Would anyone want to win a used CFTBL ramp in a raffle?

Aww dont.... You have no idea what it's like to find a reasonable Nick Door for a machine nowadays (unless you wanna spend £80+!!!)... and trust me i'm trying!!!
