It's like this at the moment.....

It's a shame as it makes me want to get out of pinball to an extent. Not to make a fast buck but just being associated with a hobby where there are a number of people just out there taking the p!ss...as a result it ruins it for everyone else.
It's the market though, that seller put a machine on..... People chose to bid that much, I don't see him taking the ****??? he didn't make they bid that high??? Unless shilled of course ;-)

No so much that one. It's things like the sttng one sitting at 6k, the 4 olds pins up for 4.5k, funhouse at 3k, Star Wars at 7.5k, lethal weapon 3.5k...stuff like this pushes prices up on everything, then it becomes a feeding frenzy on anything that is sub 2k because they think they can double their money after fixing them....a lot of people are going to catch a cold when they find out the machines just simply aren't worth that.

It does look like classic shilling, especially the second to last bidder that increments in £100 steps up to the maximum amount that the winner put in but not over it...

My thoughts on this are, if your in the know would you spend that amount on a machine that doesn't work knowing that you can fix it yourself or know someone who'll do it for you.

If you don't know what your doing then then chances are you don't have a friend who's in the know, otherwise they'd advise you not to bother and source one for you as a friend. So the chance is whoever bought this has ended up with a big over priced wooden box and has now been put off pinball for life.

They then try reselling the machine on ebay and want to make a small profit because pins are always going up in value, and it all starts again.

We all need to premote own communities, leagues, events and this forum. We should also premote ebay for what it is when buying a pinball machine.

Except in this instance the winner has bid on 5 other pinball machines at the moment, so I'm guessing a fixer upper/dealer.

More reason to premote the community if we can get people involved in pinball through the leagues then we can sell on machines at the right price and hopefully more people will not be using ebay and dealers. If you don't want to sell your pins perhaps you'd be happy to loan them out to others that you know and trust.

I'm happy to say that I'm pin sitting a machine at the moment for friends who don't have room for it just now, and I'm sure I'll do the same for someone else when I run out of space.

@Moonraker thanks for pointing out about the winning bidder, I was unaware of that fact.

ok,
I've put my TAF on ebay to see if there is a difference in a mint one as opposed to a rough one.
I've put a high reserve on it as it's not for sale as such but if the reserve is met i'll have to sell it I suppose.
got stung for the reserve but i'm interested to see if ebay bidders just see an Addams as an Addams if that makes sense.

I think e bay people just see it as a Addams normally a pile of **** will go for the same price as a minter
Both the sttng and the roadshow where not worth the money even if you are a fixer upper if the display cpu and display driver board are gone then you are into £500 already
