Another vote for "if only it wasn't in Aberdeenshire, and I had the space and money". Mind you, given the terrible iPhone pics the playfield could be a wreck. It's also an hour even from Aberdeen!

Agreed. I think I like it more just because everyone else hates it haha!
That's why I bought GOLD BALL and to a lesser extent VECTOR. Generally not the most liked machines! But they're mine and I love 'em!

Each to their own.

Another advantage of unpopular machines is that they don't command high prices. Generally...

Yep. Nothing wrong with a bit of DE Disco  ............take a perfectly good theme tune, say Star Wars or Star Trek, then add yr trademark chugga chugga chugga early 90s beats over it ;) What could possibly be better ;)

That uptempo beat.....  o_O

There's some DE's that are OK, surprisingly R&B (ignoring the wrong hat), Torpedo Alley and Time Machine (nice B52's beat on that one). Once wanted a DE Star Trek till I heard it on YT. Hook is the worst of them all, that looped bit of noise (der, der, diddy-di-der bit) at the end of each ball..... OMG, makes me want to smash the glass.

DESW music! WTF is that about...I know, we've got licence to use one of the most iconic soundtracks of all time shall we make it an integral part of the atmosphere of the game?....nah, who'd want that, might even make people think we'd done at least one good thing with this amazing licence.

Assuming there'll be a new Star Wars pin to go with the new films, anyone think it'll be any good?...or is this just a licence that's cursed to always be a dreadful pin?

Regards,
Dan.

You do need to consider the sound hardware that was available in 1992, while Data East was miles ahead of everyone else with stereo sound and a BSMT2000, playing the original orchestral soundtrack was just not achievable (more so the limited ROM space as the BMST could do samples), so they did a wavetable synth version, and jazzed it up a bit, it's entirely what would be expected of games of the time :)

Didn't mean they had to add a 160 bpm bassline and drum beat to everything though. ;)

It's to make the game more feel more fun and exciting, like upbeat music used in action sequences in films. Pinball is supposed to be fast action.

Popped in to see this on my way home from work. Decided it's not for me but thought would pass on info. Really nice guy who was selling but, by his own admission, likes playing and not fixing!! Actually, his main passion is fixing old RD Yamahas - he had a beautiful RD350 that he has renovated and it really took me back to my yoof. Anyway, I digress....

Good points.
Bally 6803 keypad present and functional. Boards look in great condition and there is an off board battery mod so no nasty stuff to worry about. 9 flashes on boot up. All lights and solenoids work in the test function. Managed to get credits/freeplay set up so it plays a game. Playfield has minimal wear. Slight cupping on few of the light inserts but for a 30 year old game it's very good. Plastics good - a bit yellowed but to be expected. Translite looked good too.

Bad Points
Front of cab painted in ever-so-subtle satin black - nice:cool:. Two chunks out on the left hand side of the cabinet. Left hand display acting up but it got better after a warm up. No sound whatsoever. Not sure if this is board related. Lock down bar rusty as an old nail.

I did offer him cash, but it wasn't enough so I wished him well on the Bay. Probably worth £300 now and maybe £450 after a good fettle - but the land of Ebay bidding will see this go for a silly amount - but good luck to him.

Martin

Tell me more about the RD, was it LC ? Much more interesting than the Hardbody.
He had two, one yellow with black stripes and the other white with blue. D or E regs - they were mint. Miss hooning around on a RD125 back in the day - until I dropped the clutch in the power band while racing my mate in his Chevette.....:rofl:Cue much road rash and a broken set of rear indicators - think I got off lightly!

Get that, they just made a bad job of it... unless you're aged about 5.

OK, I'll get my coat.....
