I thought I would email the people selling the Magic City to ask if that was the correct price they were asking

This is the correspondence I received, so maybe people are prepared to pay silly money :cuckoo:
Just for the record I have no interest in buying an EM, just being nosey :D View attachment 22931

hey Chris. oops, i have been stringing them along too for my own entertainment, after someone posted a link to it on Gumtree, so maybe i'm the 'lots of interest' though i've certainly not taken it to the stage of booking a viewing (yet).

me: Hi, I'm interested in this pinball machine as I remember playing it as a boy. How much is it delivered please?

them: Hi Daniel, We could arrange delivery locally for £15, but depends where you live if we can do delivery. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. Many thanks, Holly

me: 15 pounds seems very reasonable, what if i lived up in Scotland! Fortunately i don't, i am in Chester. Do you offer any after-sale service? It was my grandson who alerted me to your advertisement, as he saw a photo of me playing pinball in the 1960s on this very title, but he is unable to help me with getting it all 'ship-shape', should one of the rubber bands or lights go out, in future? respectfully yours etc Daniel

them: Hi Daniel, Sorry this is a private sale we're not a company. The price for the pinball machine in excellent working condition is £6950 online and to get it in full working order will cost about £750, hence the price. We understand you can get someone to come to your home to fix it. If you was still interested in buying you could get a courier to pick it up. Reasons for or price is we are downsizing. Many thanks, Holly

me (2 days ago): £6950 is a little outside my price bracket. so are you saying that this machine you are selling needs an additional £750 to get it into full working order? goodness me!

me (just now): i am still waiting for your reply, madam Holly. by the way, i have seen that you advertised it also on eBay for only £2800 - why do you ask me for so much more than that? Daniel

....sorry

TAF seems to have levelled at 3k for average ones despite a scrap heap making 2k this year ( a false economy if ever there was one)

re defender . mine is mypinballs old one and had a new backglass and mint deck . has since had a new repro plastic set fitted . several people on seeing it have made an offer around what Dave is looking for but it was bought from Jim to keep as I was fed up of seeing overpriced scrappers at daft prices. Even for its time production is low and its a very challenging game to play. that reverse kick back during multiball is one of the hardest things to get right. its just oozes 1980s coolness.

at the Thomson auctions where you could pick up project run of the mill game for twenty quid , the as is defender went 850

http://www.pinballnews.com/news/paradise.html

the video game is the TAF of arcade games. plenty made and still about but commands top price every time . 1k had been going rate for a long time

im praying for someone to list a working magic city on ebay and watch it flounder at about £400. 2800 guy is dreamer of the DECADE

Seller account created back in the middle of this year but never sold nor bought anything? Hmmmm........

Spider-man.

99p starting bid, 0 bids, 0 feedback, "Very latest 2.6 firmware - Not even available on the Stern site yet". Erm...what? Something smells off.

They say never seen on ebay in the uk before and then post a link to pinpedia with 7 completed auctions in the UK listed (ok possibly not all ebay but more than likely)

Also says modded to the eyeballs but doesn't show pictures of any of them (other than dmd)

That Bally Paragon backglass is classic, at least none of the paint is lifting :) I'm sure @Nedreud spare playfield would make a nice match
WTF?!?!? o_O $125!?!?!? You have got to me ****ting me?

Maybe $5 for the lift bar...

At this point your just paying for a piece of glass cut to the right size.
Yeah. An old filthy scratched piece of glass that happens to be the right size. No point spending half of that on a piece of new toughened crystal clear glass. No point at all.

Madness.

I'm watching it in case it sells so I can ridicule the buyer.

An old filthy scratched piece of glass that happens to be the right size.

You're forgetting the price includes free shipping within the 48 mainland states. So you'll end up with a smashed, old, filthy, scratched piece of glass :cuckoo:

tbh the sods law means this glass wouldn't break if you stamped on it yet a mint paragon glass would turn into a million pieces by breathing on it

Another wonderful set of photos . Cos when I am interested in a pin all I really want to see is a nice picture of the pricing card, all about the pricing card, oh yeah and maybe a photo of the manufacturers logo, thats always important too. Whats that you say ??? Pictures of the actual playfield or cabinet ?? Dont be mental. Who would want to see that.

FTR this pricing card is not up to my impeccably high expectations. £1500 for a damaged price card. F*cking charlatan. I'm out !

if someone is looking a funhouse though if the playfield is reasonable and the display works ok (often that befuddles new sellers when you ask them to check) a cheeky 1k offer might get this
