seller is asking for trouble describing as "as new". used is safe bet . if even the slightest fault then parts/spares

What's wrong with that? Looks relatively ok, no signs of scammer etc.

Don't forget it is a limited edition, which would push the price up by another grand

I like the knowledgeable mention of "A button can be pressed inside to allow you to play it anytime.."

Or it could've been set for Free Play.

The fella selling the Williams Pharaoh on eBay has developed an interesting, multi-faceted sales strategy.

Let's set aside that the catchy intro says - “Circuit boards etc,are untested so shall likely want repairing or replacing.”

Let's set aside obvious alarm bells that it is being sold by a big collector and that it is dead.

Let's set aside that he has never turned the game on despite years of ownership and that some plugs are missing.

Let's set aside that no one was interested at £580 after weeks and weeks on eBay.

Why not stick it up for £1,580 ? Yes, £1,580

And then to finesse the listing point out to folk still reading your tired, stale advert that this is a crappy example of the game you can't be @rsed with as you found a better one. So presumably every decent bit that was originally on this piece of crap game has been swapped out onto the game he is keeping

Wonder if he is an economic adviser to Ed Balls and Ed Miliband too ? This is about the crappest advert for a pinball I have seen in a long time

To sell a project, it needs to be priced like a project. Every time a machine is re-listed it's effective value goes down as people think "there must be something really wrong with this"

The cab doesn't look terrible, but with the amount of work that needs doing, it is way overpriced

Whilst all the other points are pretty bad, this one sticks out the most. Just why, WHY would you put in the listing "I have a better one now". This is of no use whatsoever to anybody apart from the fact it advertises as you said that likely any decent bits from this one have now gone into the better one. I get the "Well if you win it I can help you with the circuitry from the working one" maybe but surely you could find schematics or a copy of the manual somewhere. But yeah, massively overpriced and I never get the strategy of "It didn't sell at X price, so let's try X price 3 times as high instead". Never makes sense. I'm going to have to assume he accidentally mistyped an extra 1 when he re-listed it :D

How many times, does this one have to be re-listed, before the seller realises, that no one wants to pay £250 for a low value EM machine with it's backbox missing?

What use is it to anyone other than for spares or to make into a coffee table?

Funny thing is, a few years ago, a guy I bought a few machines off, offered me a complete Queens Castle backbox on it's own for sale

I just love the guy's visible hands holding up the backglass in the first photo

Actually, back to that Pharaoh. Don't those rubbers look suspiciously white and new for a game that has supposedly not been used in years ??

Smell a rat ?

Porky pies ?

Maybe you get the person who's holding the translite for the £250? That could be a hot naked babe behind that translite :hmm:

I gave him the benifit of the doubt and offered £300 back in January which was extremely generous. I was actually the one who pointed out the cutoff plugs in the backbox since he hadn't mentioned it in the listing at the time nor had he included the photo of it. He wouldn't accept the fact no one wants that piece of sh!t at the price he's asking which is almost the going rate for a fully working one.

Emailed me a couple of weeks ago to ask if I was still interested and that he would let it go at £385 (strange price). Wasn't interested. And here it is back on eGay at full price.

There's definitely a rat here. I've got zero tolerance for bullsh!tters trying to rip people off.

@PeteB

This was originally advertised elsewhere, with virtually no information. I contacted this guy in December with a really basic info request - rather than travelling the length and breadth of the country to find out what it actually looked like. This kindly individual did not even get back to me

So I wondered whether the seller was a probable c@nt looking to rip someone off back then. Offering the desirable combination of a dead game, big collector selling it, practically no information and a long journey did not float my boat. Which is a shame as the game actually looks an interesting title to me with some nice features But definitely not this incomplete and picked over example of it

It's a shame as it is a good title, but as has already been said, it's obviously been picked for parts and is way way overpriced

He did seem to change tactics. Last one I saw of his (at least it looked like it - Was same pic of MM as previous attempts anyway) had no gmail "contact me here to get scammed outside of eBay" picture.

No mention of vmr2022 in another picture so probably unlikely...
lookk. you see, it was all just an innocent misunderstanding.
you don't think this guy has pins?

I meant probably unlikely to be vmr2022... There's plenty of scammers out there and this certainly looked like one.
