I've recently purchased the wobble head kit from the states. This makes the dalek toppers head move from left to right like the original design. After some minor alterations to the head so it would sit down level, i powered it up.

This seems to be running alittle slow in my opinion. It's powdered by a futaba s3003 servo motor which should run at 4.8V: 0.23 sec/60° 6.0V: 0.19 sec/60. It's powered from the 5v flasher circuit which was originally inside the dalek topper. Now I've countersunk all the screws and there's nothing catching so I'm assuming there's not enough power to the servo to meet it's full potential?
I've read all the posts on pinside and done all the googling. It's not affected when you unplug the GI.
Just wondered if there's any of you clever clogs out there that could point in me in the right direction.
There's plenty of videos on youtube and all of those run far faster than this. I'm stumped

I dunno. Some suggestions, sorry if obvious ....

Friction, something catching ?

Have you checked the voltage the servo is getting under load ?

If is is on a flasher circuit, does that provide a steady 5v or is it essentially providing a flashing ( stop start) voltage

Is there a game software setting you need to adjust?

Is 5v enough ? Does it need 12v instead ?

Nothing is catching. Checked this numerous times. The motor is 6v so should be fine. Bare in mind many people have this mod with no issues. Check the YouTube vids compared to mine. It's not really a bad speed to be fair but didn't seem right compared to others. I've tried this without the motor inside and it's the same story. Maybe i can test the motor hooked up to a 5v battery?

Hi Darren i owned a proto type one of these and it did not move as smooth as yours does (i take it the video is of your one) it used a bally williams motor and gearbox (not a servo )and from memory yours is faster and stops more accurate ,i would not worry you have made a great job of fitting that kit and getting it as flat as you have

Damn, no longer available. Anyone know anywhere else to get a set from?
Hello
I've got a similar product for sale, please see my website for instructions and video HERE
It does the same movements plus has a breathing-like lighting effect. It is very much a DIY kit and you need to make brackets and wiring to install.

I saw this before i bought the wobble head kit. It put me off the fact you have to diy it yourself. It might be worth sourcing some suitable brackets and fixings and selling it as a complete kit. Even the kit i bought took a couple of hours of messing about with to get it right.

That's a shame Darren ;(

Yes perhaps i'll look back into it, although I've only got 11 out of the original 70 'kits' I got made
The original thinking was to keep the price down.

You should have contacted me!
you could have mailed me your topper and I'd have returned it fully installed and tested.

cheers

Mine isn't perfectly smooth. I think it wobbles alittle with the weight of the head on the bracket. Can hardly notice it though. Don't know what the original was like.

I have a question on the bobble head kit please. Does this get its trigger to move from thew flashlamp circuit and nothing to do with a special code eprom ? I have just done a dr who full shop and a new cpu was fitted and it does not move at all since I have powered it back up. Everything else works fine. Anyone any pointers please ?

Cheers
