Complete Data East Star Wars

I bought one in similar condition but was missing flipper and board and motors weren’t working and paint had flaked off and hadn’t had a glass on in it for years so playfield was black 90 hours latter play it all the time
One thing I recommend is put a playfield protector on

I think I’ve seen those online, are they the clear sheets that cover the whole playfield? Do they stick down?
Do you have to remove the stuck down Mylar that’s already on the play field?
Are they expensive?

More parts removed. Found more broken plastics than I originally thought I had and lots of rusted lamp holders :-(

Hi all,
What do you folks do when parts are riveted to plastics? Do you re-rivet or use little nuts and bolts?

That’s all the remaining plastics removed along with the ramp. I’m here now so might as well remove everything else and give the playfield a good clean. Looks like I’m going to have to replace all of the lamp holders and I have discovered a few more plastics that could do with replacing. Damn it looks like it’s almost a whole set I need :-(

Enjoying following your progress, thanks for logging it

This is the SW pf protector https://www.playfield-protectors.co...ry=Playfield Protectors&name=Star Wars | 1992
It's a sheet of 0.5" PETG that just lays down, some people cut their own with good results particularly when a CNC'd one isn't available.

Re. rivets, I've used neat hex dome head bolts with nylocs which have worked well depending on location. Some on here do the correct pinball rivets, the tools and parts are listed here https://www.pinrestore.com/Riveting.html

3 out of the 4 pop bumpers had the same broken corner from the blue frame. I’ve repaired using plastic weld - we’ll see how that goes.
One of the pop bumpers had the wrong cap and I pretty much broke all the screws or pillars removing the caps from the others, but at least I can change the bulbs now.

This is weird. Tapatalk used to give me the option of what size I wanted to upload the pictures. I used to elect the smallest size so they didn't appear too big in my feed and made them quicker to download. All of a sudden that option has gone and so I (and you) are stuck with full resolution images. Not my intention, sorry.

Coming along nicely Andrew, I did one a few years back and still have some bumper caps some might still be usable?

Thanks. One of the bumper caps was completely wrong so I bought a new one from PH. The others look fine and just need a good clean but on closer inspection they have cracks and chips. I will use those for now and next time I do a PH order I will buy some more. Andy N will be happy, I’ve just spent £50 on four DE pop bumper repair kits from PM.
That’s the trouble with full restorations you start to look really close at every single component and get really fussy and end up replacing everything. My spend on the restore so far is now over £500.
However, I’m really enjoying it :)

yeah money pit! always find bits broke in the strip down! I found a broken gate on flinstones after it was rebuilt as it was not obvious at the time half of it had broke off!

Playfield foam cleaned and polished with Novus 2. Came out pretty well I think.
So the question is, should I Carnauba Wax it now? Will that be good protection?

Here’s an update on the pin. I couldn’t just clean the playfield so I ended up removing pretty much everything and giving each piece a good clean. Bought brand new side rails too. Costs escalating now. I’m above a total spend of £2200 but at least it’s in instalments :)

This is slowing me down. I’m having to replace a lot of these wire mods as I’m going. They must have been put there by the operator to ease the replacing of faulty components.
