Bristol: Anyone available to pack & crate a machine for shipping?

Hi

I’m wanting to buy a machine from a (very patient) forum member who is based in Bristol.

He is unable to pack and crate the machine for shipping to me, and the only quotes I’ve had for packing & shipping have been prohibitively priced. I’ve found a decent shipping quote, but no packing service.

Therefore wondering if anyone can, or knows anyone who would, pack and crate for me in Bristol?

Many thanks.

A long shot but you maybe best to get a company in hong kong to arrange for you. I moved out of hk 20 years ago and used links relocations and they are still going. I shipped 10 machines out of hk and they did a brilliant job. They may be able to combine your shipment in a container with other peoples household possessions and will likely have links with firms in the UK to do the uk packaging and shipping.

Declan did our shipping and I would be really surprised if he was still there but there were quite a few expats working for them so no language issue.

Contact details on the pic from a box u still have from 20 years ago.

Are there any pinball machines in the arcades in Hong Kong. When I was there 20 years ago there were 5 in a big arcade on the top floor of Times Square shopping mall and 3 or 4 in an arcade on Nathan Road TST and then one I found in a basement bar in Wan Chai. Slim pickings but HK had other benefits. We really didn't want to leave when the time came. Both my sons were born there at the Matilda. Very fond memories.

Don’t know if you’ve seen the thread ‘Hong Kong Pinball’ but if not it’s worth a read and you might want to post your question there to see if that resurrects the discussion. American Pool was closed down in 22 when we were last there but my son found a machine in Lai Chi Kok, where he lives, at the PowerPlay Arena.

No! I'd literally be able to count the number of pintables I've seen in the 14 years I've been in HK on one hand! Gutting.

Thank you, I might try that. And wow, 10 machines.... No wonder there's none left here!!!

I dragged 4 out of the back of a bowling alley that had been set up in the old airport terminal building after the airport was moved but before it was redeveloped. They were non working and being stored behind where the pins for the bowling were. When I viewed them and moved them out the bowling was in full swing and it was incredibly noisy and felt incredibly dangerous.

One came from a guy that said he worked for an arcade and been given the machine by his boss as it didn't work. He had taken it home and got it working (not to my standards). I picked it up from his home which was a corrugated iron shed measuring about 10ft by 10ft up near the new airport. He was storing the pin all set up under a makeshift tarpaulin extension he had built on the side of the corrugated shed. Fortunately he had only had it there about a week so it was in amazing condition still. I paid hkd2,000 for it and I think it was the biggest payday of his life. I never knew places like that existed in hk.

In hk I just bought non working pins from the arcades and one of my local younger colleagues would do the negotiation for me. She found quite a few machines for me as she used to go to the arcades regularly with her mates to play the dance machines and vids. Ask your younger local work colleagues to look out for pins in the arcades they go to.

The good thing about the pins I got in hk was that they didn't get moved about. They would be delivered to the arcade new and spend there entire time in the same spot. So cabinets were hardly ever dinged. Plus I got good deals as owners wanted to free up the expensive space to get another higher earning machine in.

I might be able to help? I’m the owner of Playback Arcade in Bristol and I pallet pins and arcade machines all the time. Which game is it that needs to be palleted and can the seller deliver to my arcade?
