Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice. By Spooky

welcome to the doom and gloom! thought I was coming back after a weekend to pages of hype and excitement to read!

Anyway let's get back to beetlejuice!

Seriously Spooky are going above and beyond again they seem to be a company looking to appease their customers.

I know they have had their issues but they are clearly past that now and and pumping out some of the best looking games in the business

but please — for the love of God — get rid of the whole “slide the glass out” nonsense. Make it lift out properly and cleanly. … then I can fit more machines in my room. 😄
The turner system is a bit of a revelation here SUPER easy to remove and reseat (stuck ball is literally, latch, pivot, remove, click down , done).... if they made the corners a little more comfortable it would be perfect (not uncomfortable but nbot as rounded as a traditional Stern lock bar)....

Now, this last bit is purely a selfish rant on my part… but please — for the love of God — get rid of the whole “slide the glass out” nonsense. Make it lift out properly and cleanly. … then I can fit more machines in my room. 😄

I do get excited with new tech, so tbh I am there audience :-)
Bally tried this in the mid to late 60s. Lasted a few years then went back to standard glass slide out…

Says it all , don’t need to mess with basics ..

I don't think Bally would have had the home user in mind at that time. Lift out glass would make mine and many other user's lives easier, especially those with limited space.

When I was over with pins, I had a few opposite others with not enough gap to take the glass out. I just used my scissor lift to jack the front up high enough to slide the glass out above the one opposite, was really easy to do. You will never have too many pins🫣

Just done exactly that with my STTNG mate

Yep i hear you for sure. 👍 Just those lift mechanisms can be more bother than they are worth, every time i've had one i've always ended up thinking the traditional way is actually easier with a slide to the side or hoist up etc. And when you want to put a new piece of glass in its a right pita!!! Maybe spooky will add a 'hinge-o-matic' next...

I don't rule them out Steve mate, I said they'll be fine.

In the US their games are significantly cheaper than the competition. In effect their pros are dirty cheap and the premiums are cheaper than Spooky, JJP and BOF.

In this country we're getting the same game without the saving.

So put a Stern Premium alongside an Evil Dead at a similar price point and there is no comparison. You're getting a budget game at a luxury price.

A Kong Pro at $6700 is a phenomenal price at £8300 or whatever it's no longer good value.
That's true. Stern in America are a different story at the Pro level. But ouch! Those LE prices and how they tumble down in price.

Looking at the playfield again it is odd that they have chosen to have such wasted space in the top right corner. Normally every single piece of real estate is maximised. Still looks great though.

Yeah I thought this. There seems to be a lot of scoops as well. Need to play one to see how well the layout works.

There is a 3 way diverter ranp feed to the couch lock wireform, orbit for some flow and the Beetlejuice sign all in the top back right, just in front is the rising Beetlejuice mech.

There’s more in the back right of the game than in an entire Stern!

Far from wasted space, what would you have liked to see added back there? As the space is pretty limited and tight.

This bit?1763817800075.webp

had assumed it housed the mechanism that move the sandworm, If not I guess its just not visible from the players perspective.

Are you looking at the same space? Looks like the back right is covered in plastic. Confused.
It houses the sandworm mechanisms, they still put the Beetlejuice sign in that area to dress it up, along with a sculpted plastic and figure.

Empty & Spooky in the same sentence is crazy talk, if you want empty a Stern will show you how it’s done 😂

Absolutely no way do spooky do empty anymore my LT is absolutely smothered in flippers and mechs and stuff , possibly too much as I never know where the bloody ball is gonna come from 😆

Unless you know someone getting the game, playing one may prove tricky

I'm planning on bringing one to Medway pinball club for a day for people to play once arranged with Tony, Mike and the chaps.

Idea is to give folk the chance to play it.

I also need to speak to Neil and see about doing something with him at Domino or PR.

Plenty of Beetlejuice deposit spots changing hands for $5-7.5k over in US! the hype and excitement is off the charts

Thats nothing to be proud of, its a game not a commodity...

And if you see it as such you shouldn't be in this hobby! Let the games to get to players and the people who actually wanted them

Americans have always been like this, they did it to craft beer trading 12 years ago! turned rare beers into a commodity ruined the whole scene

But you know what eventually it took a couple years the market fell out and they all got burned

Have you seen the prices they pay for some bog standard bourbon. It's ridiculous. They're all on lists to be in raffles to get the chance to buy overpriced vanilla water.

Meanwhile I can buy my favourite limited edition scotch from 2018 at below MSRP still.
