Bally/Midway Beat the Clock.

Unusual, fun game that is based on time, rather than number of balls. Comes into its own with multiple players - regardless of ability, each player gets a broadly similar amount of playing time, rather than the best player hogging the machine.

Fully working other than one bulb, which has recently stopped working - sometimes works if you wiggle the bulb holder. Suspect it just needs a new bulb holder, but I haven't got a spare.

Generally in decent condition, but please note the following .......

Playfield art is pretty good for age (has been protected by extensive mylar), but there is planking.

Cabinet is solid, but the decals are a bit ragged towards the rear of the backbox.

Backglass has some small areas of paint flaked off (see pictures) - was triple thicked by previous owner to prevent more flaking.

One bumper cap is not original and doesn't have the white star graphic.

Previous sale thread: https://www.pinballinfo.com/community/threads/bally-midway-beat-the-clock-£1250.54900/#post-498181. I have done nothing to it other than replace a leg plate.

Video of it in action:

Pick up from South Devon or welcome to send Martin.

Thanks for looking..... Paul

My old machine, spent literally hours playing this. If I had the space for a larger collection (currently only 2) would never have sold it.

Good luck with the sale. new owner will definitely have fun.

Never seen this before. Quite interesting concept. Would be good fun 4 player I'd imagine.

Hello, Berty,

Timed play is (or was) tried out occasionally, even in the days of electro-mechanical games. But it never seems to stick. Even timed 'sudden death' elements of a normal balls-per-game machine are unusual, e.g. timed 'Bonus Ball' on games like Black Knight or Cosmic Gunfight, and modes with s/d, where the flippers cut off when time runs out are understandably not popular. Gottlieb's Operation Thunder has a couple, and includes the option to have the flippers shut off or simply 'fail' the modes.
