Wanted AC/DC prem or Luci wanted

No need to rise Bartron only opinions, all cool, I like btdk at the moment really enjoying it, but I am sure others won't like it so much. I also like playing twd but you find it lop sided, that's fine I think it's well balanced. Also I would like to own an Acdc some time, just makes me smile the best stern ever bit :). Next month I will have some new favourites I change my mind quite a bit that might make you smile no biggy

The problem with tables that are coming out now is that they are getting too complicated. unless you have them at home it would cost an arm and a leg to get your around the rule set. it turns lot of newbies off of playing them.on TWD you have to hit the stand ups/ drop targets your average joe wouldn't see it.

Pro or LE ?
Modded Pro, thought about upgrading to LE but having a lot of fun with the pro so I'm happy with it.

I'm the same Tony, this month's favourite will probably be packed away in a few months time. I also love TWD, such an intense game with great rules. Ghostbusters looks like it could be another intense game too, but will wait to see on that one.

I am lucky to have twd and although a crap player, you are right Bartron rule sets now are deeper all the time with Sterns. Is that coz games now are aimed at home use more and more. I see my game improve hugely when i get to know some of the rules and then my Kak ability levels it out :)
Mark you have liked that Tron for ages , great buy for you ;)

i would say 5-6k for an ac dc premium in todays market i have a pro due soon
i would be wary of buying from over seas the first thing is does the seller want to go to the bother to ship it will he pallet it and wrap it well
another thing with the shipping company read the small print and read it again as most of the time you are only covered for 10% of the value the item being shipped and another problem is if the shipping company uses more than one person ie to collect at one side drop at dock and deliver at other side this is a nightmare as no one will admit to damageing it

I got mine from North America last year - Luci. Prices on pinside are now $12-1500 more just 4 months later, and for ones with fewer mods.

I suspect prices will go further North, as fewer will come up for sale now that hopes seem to have been dashed for another run of Premiums. Judging by what a few with knowledge of the situation re: licensing have said on Pinside, there's no chance as AC/DC want a huge increase in the license fee, which would completely destroy the scale Stern work on. Also in the same discussion it seems fairly certain that Luci numbers were below 200 .. making it the most limited of all the editions by some margin.

Given how many more there are in the US, I'd suggest you do like I did and keep your eyes on Pinside if you really want one. Transport, crating and 20% VAT suck, but if you want it you want it. You'll also then need to run the hack board or run a frequency converter, given Stern's price discrimination mechanism (NA MPU board will detect 50Hz and shut down, region locking it to 60Hz power supply).

AC/DC>TWD>LOTR>MET > pretty much anything else in my collection;)

Out of all of them LOTR probably has the most straightforward rule set. Until you understand what the songs do in AC/DC you won't have a clue what to shoot for. That VIP button is so important. How are new players ever meant to know to go for the bell rather than the jackpot shot when multiball start (unless it's the collect jackpot shot).

MET is another game that you need to know the rules on. It's easy to work out where the multiball is but the deeper rules take a while to click

Hope the OP tracks down a machine. I suspect you are looking in the 5k range though:(

Thanks for your help everyone regarding shipping and prices. I have £5000 to £6000 to spend on one. Hope to find one soon.

You might get a Premium for around £6k in EU if you're lucky and snaffle it quickly. European retailers seem to get hold of them reasonably often, but you'd probably be looking at £6.5-7k there as opposed to classified ads. Leave your details with Freddy's and they might locate one quickly with their Hobbits coming in soon and people making space. Importing from US you're probably looking at nearly £7k all in (all costs) for premium and £8500+ for Luci.

Surely if buying ACDC premium from US cost would be around £6k? Well, I could get one in for around that mark but tons of hassle to do so.

I think by the time you've factored in all costs you'd be much nearer to £7k than £6k ... especially as at least short term I think AC/DC Premium will go up in price now that a further run seems out of the question. But of course you might find someone who's prepared to let one go for a very reasonable fee, you find someone good and cheap to crate, and it's in a convenient location very close to an East-coast port.

I do think it and other modern Stern DMD titles will fall in value eventually though. I think once people actually get more used to the idea of LCDs and high res, support and demand will be overwhelming for them and Stern's rather decrepid lineup of recent years will suffer.

I bought my Ac/Dc Premium off a guy on Pinball Owners last year..maybe I was just lucky..the guy I bought off was based in Spain and I'm in Northern Ireland..he boxed the machine up and put it on a pallet for me..he also took care of the freight shipping..cost me an extra €200 so in total it cost me €5800.

The seller provided me contacts of well known people on the forum who vouched for him..I spoke to him on the phone several times and he let me pay by PayPal which for me was the main reason I bought off him.

Overall I had a very positive experience, was it luck I don't know but one thing is for sure, there is no way in this world would I bank transfer that kind of money..there is no protection for the buyer at all.

Love the AC/DC and would never ever sell it...I have been hunting for a Metallica but none have come up for me so far..I know that Stern are doing a re-run of them next month and I have been talking to a US seller but the damn VAT is killing it..I have been quoted $6600 for a new Roadcase Premium and $420 to ship..I also have the mod board in case I do decide to import but I am really hoping I can pick one up in the UK....so much less hassle.

Another member on here just got mine for £5k, their out there , just need to be patient or you'll pay stupid money.

What would the going rate be for a wizard of oz 75th? Are they a fun playing machine? AC/DC or wizard?
