In conjunction with the 3D printers thread, aimed more at the hardware and settings, thought this would be a good place to share any items people have printed, or may want printing. Pinball related or not.

Here are a few of the things I've printed so far.

Small boring job required please ? A family member very kindly found me a Flash Gordon figure to go with the ship topper on my pin a couple of months ago.
The figure was without the 'football' object that Flash throws around during the film, my family member has asked me a few times if I've had one printed yet. It's about the size of a mini egg I reckon.

Day 1 with the printer. How do I print over hangs like the right ones elbow above?
Do you add supports or do you print it in cuts and then glue them together?
Our first model Minion was get wisps for hands as they are being printed into thin air.

2 different kinds of supports and a few different settings - just play around and experiment see what works best for each particular model.

I usually got with the non-tree support, and untick the box for support to base only.

You can also change the degree of overhang when the supports click in.

Haven't yet tried setting supports manually, I always use the auto option
 
I went with the tree supports and it has turned a 12hr job into a 24hr one. But 12hrs in and it looks to be doing the job much better.
This machine is so easy to use and learn with, thanks for the advice you gave @Wayne J
 
I find tree supports harder to remove from the model.

Addicted already! 🤣
 
There are various models you can get to determine the max overhang your printer can manage..
Slicer software is important too. I've had no luck at all with Cura and so use simplyfy 3d
 
The removable bed moved from the table and so the printer failed 20hrs in.

Poor fellow. It was a chance to learn how the tree supports work and are a pain to break off.
Now trying straight one for attempt no 4.

Addicted. Absolutely. My kid too, exactly what I hoped for.
 
Now I have been running the machine for 5 days solid, printing awesome things from Thingiverse, I realise I want to design things for myself. What 3D software do folks use to create the initial self designed model?

You can start with Tinkercad its free online for basic shapes. Worked great for me to sort out some mounting brackets for a step down converter I had to install in POTC.

Fusion360 - its free for personal use... it's great for precise modelling. Blender is a great (also free) Opensource 3D modelling app for more organic models such as people/creatures, etc.
 
One of my first Pinball 3D designs... used Fusion360 to do it. Took a while but very satisfying, and learned loads on the way. Making the knurling on the handle was quite the challenge.
