Complete Twilight Zone, now minty

The time has come to give my T.Z some love.
New decals
New playfield
All metal parts will restored or powder coated.
And loads of other new parts along the way.

I really don’t know how far I will go with this restoration, Mint would be nice but let’s see how this journey goes.
Start this thread off with photos of the cabinet and the strip down.

In between the rain I got the cabinet sanded, the playfield is now empty of parts.
Loads of parts ordered from various companies today, the playfield I ordered nearly 3 weeks ago and is now in customs.
Taken loads of photos and added notes, so hopefully I won’t be scratching my head later.

The list of jobs has just got bigger.
If the weather is kind this weekend I should get the cabinet filled and primed.

The one taken out isn’t that bad to be honest, it could have been cleared, touched up. Wall art it will be.

Mirco is the place that has them at the moment, will post a photo when it arrives.

Hopefully when your over next week I should have the cabinet ready for decals. Parts are under every pin at the moment.

With a dry weekend the cabinet got the primer treatment, I then went over all the missed spots with more filler.
the cabinet is now ready for the topcoat which I will do in a few days time.
sonic cleaning tomorrow.

It’s been a good day for spraying, top coat all done. The tumbler has been on 24hrs a day, one more wash with the sonic cleaner and all parts are spotless. I dropped off the metal parts to be zinc plated. Anything that needs to be in black is being powder coated.
T.Z has had loads of TLC.
Really pleased with the results so far.

The T.Z is one of the pins that over the years has had more mods made than most others. So of course mine will also have some, one that I’ve done is put LEDs behind the writing on the speaker panel. The leds was running too hot for my liking, today I’ve added a dimmer control unit which has a remote control. On test now.

Spent the last few days cleaning all parts, coils tested and new wraps fitted. Until all the metal parts are done at the platers I can’t finish the mechs. But I’ve had 3 parcels with loads of new parts arrive today so some small jobs can be done.
Monday I will fit the decals with the help of my brother.

As you well know, measuring and double checking can take hours. I reckon by lunch time all done.

Ant was going to do the warning sign Friday but I forgot I’ve got a C.T scan booked. Will chat with him later.

Looks good. I was thinking the black would look different as the material on the bottom is kind of like cork and looks rough as F painted usually. Though I imagine you put body filler on it.
