Complete The Revival Roadshow

oi oi you got to let me bring over some beers and let me watch the magic
Lol the wife gets annoyed enough with my antics. TBH I need to sort out a permanent workshop. Issue is I keep buying pins.

Well despite being on the phone to Parcelforce for over 1 hour to pay the customs charge (website was down).

I got the payment reference (that part took 1 hour). Then paid through the telephone service. It confirmed today for shipping.

'PAYMENT SCHEDULED FOR DELIVERY' is all I get on tracking... sigh... Looks like its arriving Monday then!

In the mean time I collected the powder coat. I really wanted to crack on with the playfield this weekend too...

Found all kinds of bodgery on this game. The switch on the right ramp wasn't working when I got it. Now I know why!

Rejoined and continuity tested for good measure.

No doubt it got snagged due to the poor pathing someone made.

I'll path it behind the post when I mount it onto the new playfield.

The power driver board had similar bodgery.
My mate Simon is currently repairing the power driver board. I sent him it as the caps were covered in hot glue...

Turns out the GI Header, Bridge Rectifiers and Caps are all pretty buggered.

Check out the pads! (More accurately what's left of them).

Not nice, lots of work due to some heavy handed previous owner.

Playfield arrived today.

Got to work on it.

These brathumberg playfields unfortunately layer the clear in all the recesses and holes super thick so had to burr out the clear and in some cases expand the holes as they were no where near large enough.

Replaced all the coil sleeves, cleaned up the coils, plates and brackets.

Whoever did up the stops on these flipper plates had gorilla arms I swear.

Started top side today. Dear God this game has a lot of posts.

Some I had to just replace as they were chewed up.

I bought a literal F ton of Star Posts in various colours and sizes.

This way I can see what works best.

I'm not one for originality I prefer to colour theme.

I see you went transparent pop bumper bodies. Make sure you keep the tops the correct colours or have the GI in the pops matching the original pop caps.
The different colours correspond to the different cities and routes on the map in the same way the three standups on the left do. (Eh hitting the yellow pop will switch to a yellow mode ).

Not a purist but it's gameplay related.
Same with the radio riot targets having falling rocks stickers on. Seems off theme as they're only used for radio riot or the talk radio city modes.

Cool good to know!

Can you help with this.

The playfield area where the heads are have square cut outs. On the new playfield they are held together by one layer of ply. On the old playfield these are all snapped off. Am I supposed to snap these off?

See picture.

Yes, I imagine that's just how they do the new playfield on one piece of wood.
The head mechs are attached to those pieces of wood then those pieces of wood are attached to the rest of the playfield using part of the head mech (if I remember correctly), so you can take a head mech out without unscrewing it from the playfield which I think would be impossible 🤔

I can double check mine if it helps.

Woot new slingshot switches arrived this morning, looks like its soldering time.

So I've progressed the playfield as much as I can. I need Holly to touch up the faces, then I can begin mounting the ramps.

Listened to @David_Vi and colour matched the pops.

Faces prepped for touch up.

Second batch of powder coat prepped.

The Apron/Arch was rusted and peeling...

Installed all metal work, including the dreaded lane guides.
