Tried them both ways round? i.e. rotated 90degrees in the socket.

Rotating 90 degrees, ? Good luck with that. Think 180 degrees would be a lot easier.

I "think" (I'm old and my memory is shagged) I had the same problem with them not working in a Data East game as well, weird!
