S 'n' S Help

Yes please DFD that would be great and i'd have to leave work early if you came in the afternoon or start late if it was AM. Forgive me but what is LCD and do u mean you could come tomorrow or Tuesday ?

Brilliant when would be best for you afternoon or morning tomorrow or Tuesday.

Glad to hear you've got someone a little more qualified to help you out Daz, and apologies for not making it round this weekend. Family stuff unfortunately had to take priority.

Please keep us up to date on how things go - if nothing else we need to meet up at some point so we can play a few games on each others table (or tables - hopefully in the future).

If you've reconnected the wires correctly then go back and check the fuses in the bottom of the cabinet. Take the fuse out of the holder and test, then put it back in the holder and test the holder with fuse installed from where the wire connects to the holder on each side. Or just wait for DFD to show... :D

It's ALIVE :) Massive massive thanks to DFD for sorting the problem out for me What a guy very friendly and I'm glad to of met him. As for the problem i'm not 100% sure what it was as i was 10 minutes late from work and he already had the pin going :) so will let DFD comment about that. We did have a problem with how many balls per game but i have done a factory reset in the settings and read the manual and now it's a 3 ball game. Once again thanks for all you help guys and if i have any more problems I know I can get help here.

Now i need to get the high score before my youngest thrashes me lol

Good to know its all working and you can now start to have a game.
Nice one Dave, top man and a really nice guy, even though he has a dirty face.

Am well happy, well i will be when i can get my youngest of it and have a go lol.

Top work Dave

Buzzing still there DFD but not really a problem turned down low. Also my right flipper has stopped working and I've checked the plunger assembly and noticed that the link has broken (the little wooden part) . Do you know where i could get a replacement from please ?

Welcome to the other side of pin ownership: these 20+ year old machines need parts all the time, and you'll soon find yourself with a nice little collection of bits and pieces. Remember that not all bits are interchangeable between Gottlieb Stern and Bally/Williams. You will soon come to know and love the two main UK suppliers namely pinball mania (Andy Netherwood aka the Legend) and pinball heaven (Phil). Everyone has their favourite and I think most of us mostly stick to our chosen supplier but also sometimes use the other one as well. Other UK suppliers include Dave Wilcox (pinball daze) and onestoppinball (John Mel) and there's a couple of others that mostly specialise in LEDs.

You will soon build up a collection of:
Rubbers
Bulbs
Plungers links pawls
Springs
Fuses
Micro switches
Leaf switches
Grommets
Diodes
Nuts and bolts and screws and washers
Sleeves
End stops
Star posts
Balls
Bolts
Plus other assorted crap

Also tools:
Screwdrivers
Sockets (imperial)
Allen keys
Multimeter
Soldering kit and shrink wrap tubing
Needle nose pliers
Magnet on a stick
Level

And cleaning stuff:
Novus 2
Isopropyl alcohol
Foaming cleaner
Maybe some carnuba wax
Microfibre cloths
Cotton buds
Fine grit sandpaper
Metal polish

Sorry to be the bearer of this news, you'll accumulate it bit by bit and it can be fun to learn new skills, I enjoy it a lot more than I thought I would.

For your current needs, you want a Gottlieb flipper link but check the plunger and end stop don't also need attention (take pics, people will tell you). I have all those bits and would happily send you them but am away from UK and its probably better you start checking out the websites: stat with pinballmania.co.uk and pinballheaven.com. The PH website is way better (Andy will admit that his site is pants) but prices and service are all comparable.

Enjoy!

Thanks for that Dan I'm starting to enjoy this already :). I like a challenge and will be stocking up on parts etc. thanks for the heads up on suppliers.
