Hi all, just after a bit of advice from anybody in the know. I have been offered two Zaccaria pinballs if I want them. One is Shooting the Rapids and the other is Future World. Neither of them are in a working condition but cosmetically they are supposed to be very good. I haven't seen them yet. I know it's difficult to say without seeing them and knowing what is wrong with them, but what sort of money would these be worth paying, not to sure if I want them as I haven't had one of these older ones before. Are they easy to work on?
They are asking for £300 per machine, sure they probably aren't worth that not working. Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Mike.

He has refurbed a couple of zaccs

I have never owned one. But you have 2 games here from the same era. That should make board swapping possible which could be a huge help.

In your shoes I would want to make sure they are complete, as parts other than basic mechs and rubbers could be very difficult to find. Game specific parts like backglasses, special pop bumpers and plastics may be impossible

I am stabbing in the dark, but 300 each sounds fair to me if complete, tidy and no serious board issues. The late em games sell for about 600 on eBay. I would think the early ss games like these are 500 to 800 but that is a guess as they rarely sell on eBay.

If you need parts other than basic stuff, costs and frustration could go viral

Thanks very much for your input. I will take all into account and try to speak to @ronsplooter as well. I will try and get some more info and pics. Thanks very much for your help @DRD .
Mike.

Some good pre-reading here if you haven't found it already;

As DRD says above, the fact that they're both Gen 1 machines really works to your favour if they're in decent nick

Just got some pics through!!

Offer £500 the pair . Job done! The back glasses look OK which is very important on older games

The playfields are made from plutonium that's why they don't age ;)

Zaccs are like any other machine really, just the parts are getting scarce.

Playfields are generally pretty bullet proof as others have said. Make sure the backglasses and plastics are decent. The big issue will be boards and displays as they’re hard to find so if they’re screwed you might have an issue replacing. I don’t think Zacc Keith does a lot of work on other people’s games anymore so might not be an option for board repair.

If the boards look ok with no major signs of damage then £300 each is a good price. Just depends how much work you want to take on and your skill level.

I can see that one of them has a partially dismantled playfield. This suggests one of two things

1 someone started and gave up or

2 an operator stripped bits out of it to maintain another machine

Given how hard Zac parts are to find, I would not get carried away here. You really could be buying yourself a major headache

Personally, a I have seen enough to put me off.

Good luck if you have the stomach for this kind of project

They look nice though - aesthetically...

I am starting to get an EM itch, but have no space ('cause that stops me...)

Thanks again for everybodies comments.
What are the thoughts on the condition of the boards, first one certainly not looking to clever.
Thanks all.

I think that first picture says it all...

Green is not a good colour on boards....

As others have said, the first photo of the MPU says it all. New or replacement MPU required. The battery acid has dripped on to the driver board underneath, probably salvageable if you can solder circuit boards. The PSU has an interesting replacement BR...

If it was Farfalla or Spooky I would say go for it, but for these titles... Not so much.

Personally I like the quirky look of the Future World and that could be salvageable between the two machines. The buyer should be paid £600 though to save it
