Having had this pinball for a few years and to be honest I’ve not played it much, (it’s been more of a man cave feature), I feel it’s time to sell and let someone else enjoy it. For the life of me, I can’t remember what I paid for it and therefore, your expert guidance here would be appreciated. I have a Gottlieb Rescue 911 pinball in good condition considering its age and all works perfectly, so wondered what ballpark figure I should be looking at? I really don’t want it hanging around too long so not looking to make a killing on it. Also, where is the best place to sell? I’ve actually put it on eBay at £3,400 which was plucked out of the air but no interest so wondering if I’ve priced it stupidly?
Any advice would be appreciated, many thanks.

Hi Rob,
Unfortunately, yes priced rather unrealistically.
We sold a very nice one, all be it some years ago for £1k…..link here…..hopefully of some sort of help. If it were ours on eBay I would start at £1.5k with best offer option and see where it all goes….. 👍🏼(Actually your machine is the same one!!!!!!😆)…. Wow…..

All the best. Keef.

Thanks for the info, what a coincidence!! Best cancel the Maldives holiday and look nearer to home ☹️.
Just wonder why the value on that game is so low compared to similar machines 🤷🏻‍♂️

No gottlieb love here. Ebay best shot . A 99p start could be risky as game could flounder in 3 figures . At least its not wipeout or water world

Actually a fun game but always been nearer the bottom of the pile price wise for a DMD machine.

Looks decent , and if Keef went through it a few years ago and it hasn’t been battered since then it should be in good shape 👍

1400 ONO on eBay wouldn’t be unreasonable.
Might get a local wanting a cheaper dmd pinball , and you’ll be booking that weekend in Margate before you know it.

I’ll let you know if/when I sell it & how much I got. Thanks for your input. 👍

Yes, he’s paid up front, however before eBay would release the money they made me send them my national insurance number, I thought it was a scam but I googled it and apparently it’s legit 🤬🤬🤬

Unless things change, you need to file a tax return next year too 🙄. You won’t have anything to pay on it, but eBay will pass the details of the sale on to HMRC so you’ll need to declare it.

This is incorrect, you do not need to file a tax return for selling one pinball machine

Fair enough. I thought it was worth highlighting as the seller didn’t initially know why they ask for your NI number. The threshold for 2026 is €2,000 / £1,707 and he sold for £1,700, so there’s still £7 & fees to play with before they report it.

eBay will only report if you pass certain yearly sales thresholds:

  • If your total sales on eBay exceed €2000, or roughly £1707, after fees.
  • If you complete 30 or more sales transactions on eBay.
In general, selling personal items is not taxed if they’re below £6,000 and you’re not selling as part of a business.

That’s just the threshold for eBay to report it to HMRC. That is for HMRC’s information only and does not create an obligation to file a return

Thanks for that, you learn something new every day. I checked the online tool, the whole, £1000 “side hustle” thing is what confused me.

You do not need to tell HMRC about this income

This is based on the information you have provided on 13 February 2026. This information is not stored or used by HMRC.

How we worked this out

Personal possessions you sell for less than £6,000 are not subject to tax.

So if you sell a pinball for more than 6k you're supposed to declare it to HMRC?
Nah.

The complexity for ebay is that above 6k per item then Capital Gains tax could apply (if the thing sold has appreciated in value since you purchased it). Bt pins are "machinery" which is not applicable for CGT ever.
