Hi all I have a friend who lives in Brasted (nr Westerham Kent) who has a WPC pinball that apparently is working but without any notice will suddenly trip the main upstairs circuit breaker to their games room.
I would go take a look by me and the wife are about to go to Thailand for a month so cannot go look at it.
Can you guys recommend a mobile repair person (cant say man anymore), who can go see her. Believe me, she an her husband are well "minted" their Garage is 2 stories and bigger than my detached house. They even have the own postcode! It sounds like a really odd issue as apparently it may go for days without issue then click! it trips the breaker. I cant think of what would do that intermittently and then be perfectly OK again till the next time. If I can have some details of a contact I will pass them on Not sure what game he has a present but they are always in good condition and not hacked! Help please

I think with that fault a local electrician would be more use ,he could measure to see if there was earth leakage on the machine ,or test the sockets serving that machine ,and test the rcd serving that circuit

Hi Keith Obviously it is difficult to diagnose from such a distance (40 miles away) but it only happens when this particular pinball is plugged in. If it were earth leakage on either the machine or house wiring, I am not sure how or why it would be intermittent Apparently the machine is just on and not being played Very odd?

It is likely to be the mains filter. They often fail this way.

More than likely David has hit the nail on the head ,out of interest is it a circuit breaker that trips? or is it an Rcd/Rcb that trips? (if a breaker what size (amps) is it ?)

Not sure but get the owner to take the fuse out in the switch box or disconnect the transformer loom and see if it still trips.
