WPC DCS Soundcard U3 chksum error on a demo Man

ok update on soundcard issue - its not the ROMS surprise surprise - realised my STTNG has the same soundboard, so swapped the roms into that and it works ok. so the fault appears to be on the soundcard. if I take all the roms off the board I dont get the U3 checksum error, just an sound board interface error and guess thats because there are no ROMs present. If I just put U2 ROM in I still get the U3 checksum error - very weird!!!

Does anyone have any idea or may off seen this before ?? @pinballmania@replicas@Nedreud @myPinballs

Putting the roms in one at a time tells you which socket on the sound board is at fault. The U3 checksum error message is more of a general error message. So you have identified that the error is related to the U2 socket. I would now buzz check all address and data lines plus enable lines to this socket. Also have you confirmed that the ribbon cable in use is ok, i.e. by swapping it into your known working game.

I guess I am right to assume the ribbon in the DM must be ok because I put the STTNG board in there with DM ROMS and it all worked fine - correct ?

Hi @myPinballs I have now buzzed out all of the lines from socket U2 upto U8 and to the 74HC541 and 74HC138 chips and I have continuity throughout. What do you suggest next ?

Any help greater appreciated.

am i right in thinking you have put the STTNG roms in the Demo man sound board ?

with the 2 boards side by side can you check all readings of all parts on the board ?

it will be a bit of a pain the the back side but ,it might work !

No the other way around - ie put DM roms in STTNG board and it worked fine in the demo man. I would say impossible to check 2 boards side by side!!!
