I had a problem with the m/c showing monkey lock switch stuck open.I reset the switch to clear the fault and then realised the monkey must have been scared of heights cos he had never gone that far.On test the monkey only travelled 3 ins then stuck.I moved the monkey manually up and doen and cleaned the shaft threads with a toothbrush and some degreaser even though the threads seemed clean.the tooth drush wasgrubby after this.question what lubricant does one use to ease the monkeys travel..Yours billy butler

I’ve heard lithium grease conservatively applied is ok.

Try giving it a spank

spank the monkey never thought of that.I have sent for some rocket f ishing reel oil which is used to lubricate gears in reels and should be fine.

Got some rocket fuel yellow label reel oil.Applied sparingly to wormed shaft and the monkey is now flying.Problem solved.
