WOZ monkey magnet not releasing ball

I have to give the pin a bit of a shake for the monkey magnet to drop the ball when it takes it to the top playfield, once it drops the ball it will then pop out another in the shooter lane.
I thought the balls must be magnetised, so just put new carbon ones in from Phil and its still holding the ball, sometimes just a press of the flipper is enough to release it, any thoughts ?

I haven't owned a woz, is there a switch or opto that gets made when the monkey completes its travel? Maybe that needs adjusting?.

Have you tried the calibration setting of the monkey in the settings. The monkey was traveling up and you can go over the "end" of the switch that registers to drop the ball. I will call my mate and get him to clarify and post what he says

There is a switch that makes at the top to tell the magnet to cut out.

Is the ball not meant to stay behind the gate, sort of ball lock?
