So Indy was meant to be my last resto until after the baby was born.

Here I am again doing another 🤣.

This game I believe is going to Pinball Republic when it's done.

I got the game today but I've wasted no time starting on it.

Playfield removed, cabinet stripped.

Removed the braid, I hate pulling all the staples.

CPR playfields always have some bloody annoyances. The clear coat is slapped on too liberally so you need to spend a lot of time re-drilling and burring out holes.

Here's an example of the clear coat mess.

Bottom side fully stripped.

Harnesses need a good clean.

With the bottom of the playfield removed, my attention shifted to the top.

On first view, it looks like the playfield is ok.

Then you look closer..

And it gets worse

This game definitely made it's moneys worth!

Went with transparent skirts and bodies over the original teal and opaque.

PXL_20250608_171739138.webp

Gave all the metals and some plastics an ultrasonic bath.

I've started mounting the metals back on. The dimples are next to useless so I'm having to make my own.

Had more fun filing the clear around the holes again.

Some giant blobs needed out right removing so I could flush plastic to the wood.

This took some time and patience to sort. I still personally don't get why people don't appreciate playfield swaps more. It's not just a simple part swap there's so much prep required to do them right.

Anyway rant over.

What's the old one like? Could do with one 🫣

Gearbox is suffering from oxidation. Motor is untested. Reach out to Neil, he might sell you it. Not sure what he plans to do with the old parts.

I do know he plans to raffle off the old playfield.

Coil harness is all mounted now, onto the switch harness. At the dry fit stage.

Hit some issues with some of the mechs jamming. They needed a full strip and thorough clean.

Sent the metals off for regraining and the wire form for replating yesterday.

PXL_20250610_102444464.webp

Ordered another £400 in parts, mostly to sort mashed switches and targets along with LEDs etc.

Soooo, my work got caught short today. After 7 years of faithful service my combi drill literally caught fire. So that's my work cut short until my new one arrives.

PXL_20250611_135722525.webp

Despite the drill being dead. I could at least mount the machine posts.

The old star posts were knackered so I ditched them.

I'd be keen on putting a bid in for the playfield and I don't even have the WC pin table!

Where/when will the auction take place?

Once I'm done with it and he's collected it.

I'm hoping to finish the whole lot within the next 2 weeks.

Couple of items outside my control.

Shipment of parts
Regrain of ball guides
Plating of wireform.

I'll know within a week or so if all goes to plan.

Just out of interest (not a criticism) Why do you send the ball guides off for re-graining rather than doing them yourself?

Lack of space and experience if I'm honest. It's probably pretty straightforward but at present I've lost a lot of space due to the new born arriving.

I've polished the metals plenty of times, but lack a workbench to do it right.

To be fair 4 years ago I couldn't even do basic DIY, now I'm Mr. DIY all thanks to Pinball.

I'll pick up the skill sooner or later.

Yep, pinball has a lot to answer for when it comes to acquired skills :)

New drill arrived so I spent another 3 hours or so, burring clear, preparing and widening holes. In some cases outright creating them... Not a fan of CPR playfields not going to lie.

About 90% of the posts now Installed.

Checked the ramp box yesterday. Found one of the new ramps is completely smashed...

Warning to anyone. Check your stuff early!

We only got them on Tuesday so hopefully this sorts out with Starship/The courier.

Started on the cabinet but then it started bloody raining.

Got one side done.

I'll get up early tomorrow I suppose!

Classic example of CPR crap.

The hole for the ball guide was completely missing. So I had to trace, drill a tiny pilot, burr the hole wider. Drill a wider hole, burr that and repeat till I'm confident enough putting the wire guide won't rip the artwork in the most obvious place!

I suppose that's because lots of people don't bother with the biff bars. They're more a historic thing to stop bang backs in arcades

Lots of machines came out the factory with gaps in the artwork for them and some were never drilled its something the operator would drill and fit to stop death saves...

So not CPR crap and more like @s000m doesn't know as much as he thinks he does

Lol ok explain why the right side has then and the left one doesn't then. Or why the posts in some areas didn't have holes?

What is your issue with me honestly. Sometimes I wonder why I bother with this forum.
