Morning everyone, i am new to the forum (Thank You to all the members for passionately contributing to such a wonderful source of information), based in Oxford and love colorful machines that light up, play music and make people smile (somehow I suspect I am not the only one in the comunity ;))
Currently in search of my first pin. Pretty open to suggestions, but pin should be working and have a family friendly theme.
I appreciate people might not want to separate from their pins... so happy to give first refusal to the seller when i come to sell on. Also, budget is indicative (you know better than me what your pins are worth) I want the seller to be as happy to sell as i will be to buy.
Cheers

How do you feel about Pinball 2000? There is an RFM in the for sale area.

Can't go wrong with Getaway, Flintstones, RoadShow or FishTales (maybe? - surely they aren't over 1500 yet?) or as others have said there are a couple of RFMs about for that money if you like Pin2K.....

Welcome. Your budget is just a little tight but a couple of recommendations that fit your remit; Flintstones and Road Show
Was only a short while ago when you got your first pin. The flintstones. Always hard to part with all that money on your first pin. Now huggers is splashing the cash around on all these luxury expensive pins. "Take my money!"

I remember you going to view it for me mate! Loved it when it arrived but wasn't long before I was looking for another...

Welcome to the forum @Roadrunner  what sort of era of machine are you interested in? A lot of the suggestions above are for 90's DMD games but there's plenty of others to choose from:
  • Electro-mechanical games from the 60's and 70's (even wood rails from the 50's and 40's but they're hard to find)
  • Early solid state electronic games from the late 70's to early 80's. Bally games from 1981 are my particular favourite here.
  • Mid to late 80's alpha numeric games. System 11 games are the king here IMO, my favourite era of pinball machine :D
  • 90's DMD games as people have said
  • More modern DMD games from the 2000's to present day
Mixed in with all of that you've got the interesting and obscure games, a lot of which are from the late 70's and through the 80's. Games from Iatly made by Zaccaria, from Spain made by Inder, Segasa Sonic etc. There's a lot more pinball out there than just B/W 90's games

Many thanks for all your suggestions.
I did look into the RFM option but would prefer a more peaceful theme.
Getaway, Flintstones, RoadShow or FishTales sound good (though people seem to hold to them - no surprise - as i cannot find any i can grab with my budget?)
Late 80s to early 90s might suit me best (from the little i know)
I have been offered a Party Zone http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?any=party+zone&search=Search+Database&searchtype=quick
any views? Thanks!

Don't overthink it, if you buy on here from a known seller you can enjoy whatever it is then move it on at a similar price. The only cost will be if you pay to have it delivered - there is a trusted guy called Martin that charges £85. Or be prepared to drive and bung it in the back of your car, van, pin mover (more advanced option).

Hello,

Party Zone would be alright as a 1st machine, though there are some slightly non-family things to bear in mind - one in the cabinet artwork, the speech "Get your paws off me!" and an unsettling bit of cross-dressing at the conclusion of a feature
It's one of the few Williams/Bally games with a dot-matrix display and the older 'conventional' flipper solenoid control, rather than 'fliptronic' solid-state flipper control

Given your username, I thought I'd better warn you away from the final 'System 11' game, Bugs Bunnys' Birthday Ball (unless, of course, a dislike of it's the reason for your choice of name). It's a game that has few admirers

I have a Getaway I'd be looking to shift on at the top end of your budget. PM me if you're interested @Roadrunner and I can pass along pics/details etc.

selling a fully LEDed NO FEAR for £1300 or Franstein with a few issues but palying well for £1500

Be surprised if you can find an RS for 1500 now. Even Flintstones might be a push after the recent glut of ones on the forum....

Morning everyone, and many thanks for your valuable feedback and tips.
I decided to "not over-think it" and went for the Party Zone (you can probably tell from my new avatar).
The pin appears to be in great shape and everybody loves it.
Thanks again - Party On! ;)
