Sold Williams Terminator 2

If sales ads have to have a price maybe wanted should have a have budget?

In a way your T2 wanted ad worked as folks who knew it was on your hit list tried to contact you. Sods law unfortunately comes into play. A great buy gets listed at 3am in the morning for example.

true just a pity I was driving , im sure one will come up

Why not have a a table that lists all the machines currently wanted and by whom?

You could then have a pop up that comes up when you post a machine for sale, showing a link to the table to check and contact a member first before posting a for sale ad.
Problem is that
1. people will need to check the table before selling, and contact them, adding hassle and days/week to the sale
2. people will have to remove themselves from the list if they dont want it any more.

The system sends emails to people who watch that forum when a new post is made...
If someone isnt fast enough to be able to pick up on that then I'm not sure what else can be done.

Devils advocate (Probably shouldnt say this) - would everyone like us to pay for it, wrap it up and ask Amazon to deliver it next day?

Wanted and for Sale shouldn’t be on the same forum. Annoys me when looking thru sales and you come across more wanted adds!
if you "filter" top right, you can make the wanted ads disappear... however it isnt sticky, so needs to be done each time i'm afraid... but it does hide them :)

mmmm I wonder why less and less people use this forum

Interesting, since lots of people say that, however visitor numbers are up.... as are new members....

Just my 2c

I posted a wanted ad before the pinflation but never got any hits. Bit like selling something unless someone thinks I'm selling something way too cheap then I get messages Like my lotr I sold sat night 3 people messaged me within 10 mins saying they would take it
2 hours later and then after I put sold on it I get 20 messages offering up to 500 more. Of course, I refused as that's bad business. But I have had games be for sale for weeks and forget about them being on here and all of a sudden I get loads of people wanting that game cause I forgot to take it down.
Back on topic, wanted ads are a waste of time unless there is a price range with them. Because most people selling want top dollars so there going to ask how much thread it's worth and by then you have people bombarding you with silly offers if someone that wants it sees it or you get zero replies as mine seems to and then it is set a high price and keeps dropping it till it sells.

This thread now …. I’ll just hang this here 😁

iv had good results with the wanted ads :)
Yeah I have too, only put one up for LOTR and had really good feedback and some leads.
Deal was done and both parties happy, an overall great experience.

Obviously luck, timing and which particular pin comes into it too. I’m may just have been lucky.

I do however think people would have better luck if they just put a wanted ad for one pin rather than a rake of pins.
And obviously patience is key.

Anyway that’s my 2p’s worth 🙂

I think giving an idea of what you’re prepared to pay is good with wanted ads. Over the years I’ve offered 5 pins to people with wanted ads and have only been able to get a deal done with one person because the others wanted it for a deal price like I’m desperate to get rid. These other pins have then gone on to sell for what I offered it for in a normal ad.

Plus if you’re desperate for a particular pin and willing to pay a little over going rate stating that might help to flush someone out. Basically the more info you give on exactly what you’re after the better (condition - players/restored etc, original topper essential) so sellers aren’t wasting their time contacting the person.

Maybe worth if you are wanting to pay for a pin and more details ie mint players project
Just sold a Williams ij but it would have been more than most would want to pay on here
To be honest every time I have replied to a wanted add there has always been excuses why they don’t want it

You offered me a GB after my wanted ad iirc. I might be the exception rather than the rule though!

I've used Wanted Ads to contact people when it's come to me selling a game, and subsequently sold - but only those people I'd want to deal with in the first place. People who I've had an issue with previously (or have messed around people I know), or have offered ridiculously low prices, don't get contacted - simples.

I think people need to accept that wanted ads are not a magic bullet.

I've got lucky twice with wanted ads, and probably have posted 10 more to no avail. I accept they may not be noticed by people looking to sell the item I've posted a wanted for.

I would hate to think people listing stuff for sale should be chastised for not browsing all the wanteds and offering to them.

All you can do is consistently look to bump the wanted post within the rules of the forum.

It’s all good , wanted adverts I realise don’t guarantee an offer , seller is entitled to post advert either way … I’ve had a word with the wife … turns out she had my big boy pants … so I’ve pulled them on and moved on 😛

One thing I've learnt is there will always be more that become available for sale.

Only the crazy rare stuff is the once in a lifetime opportunity.

Interesting reading about the usefulness (or not) of wanted ad’s ..I may be putting a wanted ad out soon, not quite decided for what yet but probably LOTR ..and I’m happy to pay up for quality!
