I know, no flippers, not a Pinball Machine, some might say.
But a Steve Richie special with the amazing back glass.

I bought this one in August 2019 in the US. Some shipping logistics delayed its arrival until now.

Considering its a 39 year relic from 1981, its in really good condition considering I've shopped some 90s machine in a lot worse condition.
No damp, or signs of water. The bulb holders, and there are many are all in good condition.
The logic boards are also looking good.
I've not turned it on yet as I need to do a 110 to 220v conversion.

So what am I going to do.

New line cable and Varistor.
Clean up of playfield.
Replace 20 rubber posts for Titan Red posts.
Re chrome legs and new levellers.
Re paint general areas.
Chrome trim around the back box.
Check fuse ratings.
LED to GI.
Consider replacing main lamps (100+) with LEDs Once I understand the technical requirements as the PF lamps fade a lot in game play.

Reduce the game working noise from 90db to 80db by installing HIP in the subfloor and install felt on the auger.

Install a 555 timer to the right trigger to allow continuous ball fire.

Some if this has been suggested by Ed Cheung who owned a machine some years back.

two transformers??
Yep. One line feeds the lamps, displays and sounds, the other the ball feed/auger and fans.
I am going to put two more fans in the cabinet. One on the speaker grill to draw in new air and one facing the auger motor.
(No speaker in the cabinet in this pinball)

Could put a powered amp in I guess but I might get a noise abatement order from the council or @astyy driving over asking to turn it down

What do these things fetch these days?
I think UK sweetspot is £1k but less than a hand full in the UK I think and similar amount in Europe. Not seen on one sale for over two years here.

More regular in the US, if you are quick to spot and want to entrust the logistics partners. #2 machine came over fully built on its legs, only found out when Martin called me last week and mentioned it!

Cheers...thanks for that, your’s a keeper?

110 to 220 completed on #1. Some conversations with Dave Langley made it very clear (to me) what to do.

With the lure of a fresh Cornish Pasty and a glass of Spartan, @astyy popped over with his DMM and transformers are all good.

Put some felt in the auger to reduce rattle.

Started to put it all back together.
Looked at personal loan rates to fund all the LEDs.....

please post video of it running when you do.

Its alive.....
Post sleeves and LED order next.
Main playfield display has one or two display segments out but need to check next time when under the PF.
Sound proofing has helped with back ground noise.
Sounds fabulous. And the hyper cannon is punchy. Will do a video post LEDs and post sleeves.

Took advantage of the BF Comet sale. So both fully laden with Comets and replaced the post sleeves with Cliffy Posts.
I have found a place in London that has 5mm Glass so will replace the glass as it has the odd chip here and there.

So..
Aux power board gave up during Christmas.
Recently sent to Jim at @myPinballs to investigate and returned back this week refurbished.
Replaced glass with new so looking crisp in game play now.

I've added a Wave 1 completion on you tube to enjoy the sounds of the 80s!

I might get the coin door power coated to Chrome next.
