I'm thinking of selling my FT. I'd appreciate a guide price and advice on wording. Photos to follow.
For Sale is my 1992 Williams Fish Tales pinball machine - this was the one I always wanted having played it to death in my younger days. When I first got it the machine was in a sorry state (bought blind but the seller assured me it all worked, but much did not. Oh well..)
As an electronics engineeer by trade however, I was confident it could be put right and I learned an awful lot about Williams WPC 89 fixing it all. The machine now works 100% and plays fast and true. I have had to repair the Power Driver Board and the switch matrix on the CPU. The Fliptronics II board has also been replaced for a RottenDog modern equivalent and all the ROMS are updated to L-5
Good Points:
Machine Works 100% and I mean absolutely everything.
Fully re-rubbered
New Pinballs
All Inserts, Flashers and BackBox GI replaced by LEDs - Playfield GI left as bulbs as it looks better.
Dot Matrix bright, fully working, with no warm-up time
The wear on the playfield is very light indeed but is due a deep clean
Bad Points:
There is inevitably some cabinet fade (FT is notorious for this because of the deep oranges) but this example is by no means the worst I have seen.
There are a few dings in the cabinet that have been picked up in its life.
There was no coin-mech fitted (doesn't matter for home use, obviously) but I fitted one anyway. This works but is not exactly the right model as it obscures the coin-reject slot.
You're welcome and encouraged to see it all working before bidding.
Note to non-pinball experts / collectors:
The machine is extremely heavy - I can help you load but you will need a van / large estate to transport. The game works 100% as you will see but you have to remember it's over 20 years old and its main function is to hurl heavy metal balls around the place at great speed. Therefore, some on-going maintenance is inevitable but that's part of the hobby of a classic pin. The original Fish Tales manual is provided.
