Keeping that as an option if I get desperate.
A lad at work does a bit of welding, but is a bit rough. I will pass to him if needed,
As picture, split at 2 points.
It will weld ok that

Took it into work this morning. It's aluminium.

Although looks like a simple enough part, a bit of time with some plate and a drill and file could probably recreate it.
