Found it! Whitewater Wanted Please 🌊🌊

I saw one in Glasgow and tried to buy the fellas off Facebook recently.

I think I'll explore the murky waters of importing one so any advice would be appreciated.

What’s yer budget?

Flexible mate. Obviously I don't want to overpay for a crap one but I'd happily pay good money for a loved one with extras etc.

The idea was to get one and send it to be minted/pimped but it's hard. Been waiting two years for one to come up but keep missing out.

Williams Amusements has one but it's £6k and not great condition for that price.

Did you have a punt on the one that recently sold on eBay?

I did exactly this. Fair warning, it’s an expensive game to refurb. I went all out because I don’t plan on ever selling it, but if I did I’m sure I’d lose £££.

No, to be honest it wasn't a known member so was unsure if it was a genuine advert.

I did bid for the Facebook one but the chaps communication was awful.

I might try the States if nothing comes up here.

A few in the USA:

They seem to come up fairly regularly for sale on here don't they? I can see at least 6 in the last 12 months.
Honestly mate, every time I either miss them or I'm just in the process of moving one out etc.

Haha I spoke to the guy on FB he was a **** :D

Honestly mate, you couldn't make it up. My interactions with him symbolised every meme and stereotype I've ever seen about Facebook sellers.
He did me a favour. Honestly I think you dodged a bullet too. US prices for this game are mad. Did you see the guy by the way who made a MM from scratch?

With the available new cabs now and actual part availablity it's actually worth considering making one from scratch. The guy who did the MM did it with a budget of $7000 for context.

Really? No, I haven't seen that at all, been crazy with work for the last few months.

That sounds incredible.

He did very well for $7000!!

Great read, I've thought before this must be a viable route for people with a lot of skill and patience interested in the build process.

From the post...
It depends on the game and the availability of parts of course, but the short answer is that building one from scratch isn't a money saving venture. It's more just a hobby-within-a-hobby for those that like the challenge of creating their own "brand new" machine. The overall cost isn't much different than buying a machine in decent shape and restoring it.

There are some machines that you can come out ahead on. My Monster Bash playfield fully populated cost $3772.60. Medieval Madness was $5372.15. White Water will be about $3500 with all new ramps and boulders. That’s with used playfields for all three.

Figure about $300 for wire harnesses if you build your own.

You only come out ahead if you can fabricate some parts and find some used parts. Like I got beater cabinets to restore for $150 each.

It is a fun micro-hobby though!! I love tracking down all the parts and solving all the little challenges along the way.

You can build a WW from scratch but with all the delirium about original toppers and people can’t seem to travel to Scotland to buy one for £3k, why would you bother.

Was the ebay Scotland one, in hindsight, a bargain?

Quite possibly mate but there are so many scams and he was unknown, I have no chance of getting up there any time soon and was not sure about sending money into the abyss.
